"You're so dramatic," Emiliana grumbled, getting off the barstool and heading to the foyer to answer the door. Although she instantly regretted it when she saw who was there. "Nanny Franny? Grandpa? W-What are you doing here?"
Francesca Chilton eyed her granddaughter, clearly not a fan of the sweats Emiliana was currently wearing. "Did you just wake up? It's 11:30."
Emiliana faked a smile. "Um, no. I've been up for a few hours."
"Then why are you dressed like that?" she asked, still judging Emiliana.
Emiliana pursed her lips, fighting to keep the smile on her face. "It's nice to see you!"
Emiliana moved aside to let her grandparents in. Harold smiled warmly at his granddaughter, pulling her in for a hug. "Hello, Emiliana. How have you been, dear?"
Emiliana smiled genuinely this time. Her grandfather was always much friendlier than her grandmother. Sometimes she wondered how they ended up together.
"I've been good, grandpa. How about you?"
"Oh, I've been just fine, thank you," he smiled.
"Where's your maid?" Francesca asked before narrowing her eyes. "You have a maid, don't you?"
"Yeah, we do, Nanny Franny. Today's her day off," Emiliana told her, before leading her grandparents into the kitchen. "Mom, look who's here."
Elizabeth's eyes widened in horror at the sight of her parents. "Mom, dad. What are you doing here?"
"The two of you really need to work on your manners. When you have guests, you welcome them with respect," Francesca told Elizabeth.
Elizabeth gritted her teeth, holding back from saying something rude. "Hi, mom, dad. It's so nice to see you." Elizabeth reluctantly hugged both of her parents. "I just have to talk to Emili for a second."
Elizabeth pulled Emiliana into the other room. "Okay, before you freak out..."
"What have I told you about answering the door?" Elizabeth hissed. "Never answer if your grandparents are at the door!"
