(This picture has alittle something to do with the story plus its free advirtisment for anthem lights)
I woke up to my phone blaring its alarm. I sat up tiredly as I shut it off confused on why I had set it for so early. It then popped in my head that I was heading to Chad and Fallon's today. I laughed at myself for being so forgetful at times.
I made my way downstairs with my ugg boot house slippers and a cardigan wrapped protectively around me. Joey always liked keeping the house a tad bit more chilly then it needed to be, but I didn't mind. I always had loved to be able to cuddle in blankets, cardigans, and hoodies. Joey's hugs were nice to warm me up as well.
I entered the kitchen to find a note on the coffee maker. ("Kalyn, Donald wanted me to go with him and since its his last day here I couldn't say no, I'll have Chad and Fallon give you the address for where we are meeting since I left the car for you. Don't be mad that I left without you getting to kiss me goodbye ;) don't worry I kissed you on the cheek before I left. Love you Kalyn, have a great morning and see you soon.") I smiled as I slipped the note into my cardigan pocket before making myself a cup of coffee.
I grabbed my now full cup of coffee and made my way towards the living room where I would watch some TV before I had to get ready. I got through an episode of E news before deciding it was time to get ready. I set my empty coffee cup in the sink and made my way to my bedroom where I proceeded to pick out my cozy outfit for the day. I took a quick shower and put my wet hair into a fishtail braid that hung next to the right side of my face. My light blond highlights standing out against the damp honey blond hair. My makeup was natural today, I didn't feel like I needed to do much for what the day was consisting of. After finishing I grabbed the car keys since Joey rode with Donald. Ive had my license since I was 16 but never bought a car to drive so it was kinda a luxury when Joey let me borrow his. I grabbed a water bottle, my Vera Bradley wristlet that held my I.D. and money, and my cat eye sunglasses.
It took around 20-30 minutes to get to the Graham's. I let myself in and found Chad and Fallon putting the last of the cookie decorating goodies on their rather long dinning room table. My eyes widened at the state. I have never seen so much sprinkles, frosting, and undecorated sugar cookies in my life. "You guys trying to feed an army over here, looks like you have enough to feed three Tennessee's combined." I said with a slight giggle. Fallon looked up and smiled when she saw me as did Chad. "My little Kalyn is finally here! Oh how I missed her." She said happily as she hugged me so tight I thought I was going to see stars. I made a pained smile at Chad who was waiting patiently for Fallon to get over her hug fest. My pained smile must of given him the hint. "Fallon If you hug her anytighter she might pop." Chad exclaimed as he put a gentle hand on her shoulder. "Oops! I sometimes forget my strength when I get excited." Fallon said with a sheepish grin as she stepped back. I just laughed as she let Chad step in for a hug. "Good to see you! Last night was really fun! I'm glad you got to experience that." Chad said as he pulled away from the hug and put his arm around my shoulder and showed me to my seat. "I just love to watch you guys sing! Its the one thing all four of you love with a passion and it shows when you guys get together." I said as Chad pushed in my chair and gave me a soft smile before he sat down at the head of the table. "Its just one of the many reasons why I fell in love with him." Fallon said as she gave him a kiss on the cheek before sitting down with a brightly colored bowl of frosting in her arms. Chad lightly blushed before grabbing a cookie and frosting. Me and Fallon looked at each other before smirking at each other at his appearance.
I grabbed a cookie and some white icing. "Isn't your anniversary coming up?" I asked with a smile. "Yup 12th of next month." Fallon said with a wide smile. "Knowing how crafty Chad is he probably has something up his sleeve for it." I giggled and passed a wink to Chad who smiled and returned it. Fallon looked at us questioningly but ignored it.
We shared stories about their wedding and my future plans with Joey and decoreted over twenty cookies in the entire two hours that we had spent together. Most of our time was spent laughing so hard that we were crying. As I picked up one of the last cookies a piece broke off and fell on the floor only to be retrieved by a white ball of fluff with legs. "Now who is this cutie?" I said while lifiting the dog onto my lap and pushing the cookies forward so he wouldn't be able to reach them. "That is Beni, the closest thing we have to an actual baby." Chad said happily as he reached over to give the excited puff ball a pet on the back as it excitedly licked my face causing me to laugh. "On most occasions he does act like a baby." Fallon said with a slight sigh. "Well he sure can pull it off." I said with a laugh as the dog rolled over to it's back almost begging to be held like a baby. "Our point exactly!" Fallon said with a laugh. "Well if you ever need a dog sitter do not hesitate to call me cause I'd love to be a temporary mommy to this little bundle of joy!" I exclaimed happily looking into the puppy dog eyes of Beni before lightly setting him down. Before my phone buzzed next to where I was sitting. I unlocked the screen and up popped a message from Donald, ("hey sis just wanted to tell you that we are 15 minutes away from where were having lunch. See you soon!") "I'm guessing that was either Donald or Joey huh?" Chad said looking a little sad at me having to leave. I sighed, "Yeah, oh and Joey said you had the address?" I asked while walking over to the sink to wash my hands. "Yeah I'll text it to you now." Chad said as I watched him grab his phone while I dried my hands. I opened my phone up and put the directions onto my navigation so I wouldn't be having to look at my phone every five seconds. "Well I better be going. This was fun! I can't wait to do more stuff with you guys into the future!" I said happily as I grabbed my keys and hugged Fallon who was walking up to me with her arms open and a fake pout wore on her lips. "That future better be soon!" She said as she hugged me less tight than she had before. I smiled as I pulled away and gave Chad a hug. "Don't worry I'll text you both when I get at each of my destinations safe, don't want my parents to worry!" I said with air quotes. We all had one last laugh before we bid our last goodbye and I was out their door. I was almost to my car before Fallon rushed out of the house with a Tupperware container. "I almost forget to give you cookies!" She said as she handed me the container which I put in the passenger seat. "Thanks Fal!" I said before giving her yet another hug. "Now go have fun with your adopted brother and your loving boyfriend before I kidnap you and keep you in my house! " Fallon exclaimed as she started to bat me away. "Ok boo! See you soon!!"I laughed and got in my car sliding my sunglasses on and started the car.
After about a half hour and then some I got to a cute little coffee shop. They luckily had tons of parking and it was just a little bit on the outskirts of Nashville so I didn't have to parallel park which was always a plus. I walked in sliding my sunglasses to the top of my head. I looked around quickly finding Donald and Joey sitting in a corner booth waiving to me. I smiled as they both got up to give me hugs. As always a received a kiss on the cheek from Joey, whom which I was happy about how modest he is with us in public. We sat down and Joey passed me a frozen coffee like beverage with whipped cream and chocolate flakes. I smiled as I received it. "I knew you loved frappacinos so I ordered you one before you got here." Joey said with a smile. "Thanks babe." I said as I took a sip. "So where you going after this Donald?" Joey asked his brother as he stired at his slightly steaming cup of coffee. He always liked it to cool down a little if he had time to. "Well I'm headed up to Chicago to meet up with Jess for a few days and then I'll be back here in a week, but don't worry I'll be at my own place." Donald informed both of us with a laugh. "Never met such a busy family." I laughed as I took anothet sip of my mocha heaven. "Well actually I have good news for both of you guys that I've been waiting to share all day!" Joey said excitedly as he crossed his arms across his chest. Me and Donald both looked at each other and then to Joey who had us sitting in silence for about 5 minutes before one of we spoke up. "Well?" We both said. "Oh yeah, well the news is that Anthem Lights is officially going on a nation wide tour for our new album "Covers IV". We will be touring 25 states and we leave in two days. First stop, Chicago!" Joey said in a rushed tone filled with excitement. "That's fantastic bro!" Donald said reaching over for a high five from Joey. "That really is, Im so proud of you Joey!" I said proudly as I hugged Joey's arm as he planted a kiss on the top of my head.
We celebrated by getting some churros with milk chocolate dipping sauce. After laughing, celebrating, and catching up once again, it was time for Donald to leave. We reluctantly got out of our seats and made our way to the door having already paid at the table. Me and Joey followed Donald to his car. "I'll see you soon bro! Take good care of Kalyn for me." Donald said as he winked over Joey's shoulder at me. Next in line for a hug was me. "I'll miss you sis! It was soo good to see you." Donald said as he hugged me. He pulled away but kept me at arms length, "if you ever need to talk to me about anything, my phone is on twenty-four seven and it won't bother me if you call at midnight or two in the morning." Donald said with a sad smile knowing I was prone to holding stuff in not wanting Joey to have something to worry about. I smiled a toothless smile as I let a tear escape my eye. "Now don't cry on me, its not like I'm leaving forever!" Donald said trying to lighten the mood as he whipped my tear. He let me out of his grip as he unlocked his car. Joey put his arm around my waist and held me close to his side as I whipped my eyes. "I know, just call me when you get there so I know your safe. I don't want to lose my brother!" I said through my slight tears which caused my voice to bubble. "Trust me kalyn, I'm not going anywhere for a long time. Especially not now, you just got here!" Donald said with a wide smile and a wink as he walked around to the drivers side. "Bye guys, love you!" He said getting into his car and closing the door. "Love you too!" Me and Joey yelled as we waved at him till he disappeared over the hill in the road. Joey still held me close as we walked back to the car. I whipped at my eyes that were probably clouded with mascara smears. I stopped Joey before we got to the car. "Joey, I just want you to know I'm so proud of you. I remember you talking about how you wanted to spread gods word to thousands of people through your music and your doing it. I'm more proud of you now than I have ever been in my entire life." I said causing me to cry even more but this time happy tears. Joey cupped my face with his hands, "all those years without you made me work ten times harder hoping I'd find you with it. I was hoping one day I'd see you through a meet and great or just from the stage. But the way I was reconnected to you means so much more. I learned so much that whole first week. I learned that patience makes love grow as does understanding and time. I'm also glad that I was able to help you though your darkness and able to help you find light and happiness again. I was able to show you true love and I get to show you that gift everyday. You made all those years worth it. Kalyn I love you more than I ever have and everyday that love gets stronger." Joey said so happily that his eyes had sparkled with so much love I swear if you looked deep enough you would find the heavens themselves. I was about to say something in response to Joey but was cut off by a feather light kiss to the lips that still packed its punch with thousands of sparks that traveled its way through every once of my body. Joey pulled away. "Now don't worry about saying anything. I already know in here how much you love me." Joey said with one of the widest smiles I have seen as he placed his hand on his heart before opening the passenger door on the car and helping me in. He hopped in and he held my hand the entire way home. Causing me to smile as I took a tissue and whipped my mascara from my eyes. I couldn't help but to laugh. "What's so funny over there?" Joey said nonchalantly as he glance in my direction then back to the road which was seemingly quiet for a Wednesday afternoon. "Through that whole heartfelt speech you gave, you didn't bother me once about my mascara running uncontrollably down my face giving me these raccoon eyes." I laughed as I began to tackle my left eye after having cleaned up my right eye. "Babe I only see your inner beauty, your outer beauty just adds to the gorgeous beautiful person you are. You could have scars over your entire face and body and I would still see the same girl I feel inlove with 12 years ago." Joey said like it was no big deal. I smiled and leaned over to give him a kiss on the cheek causing him to turn a light pink. "And this is only a small reason of why I love you Joseph Stamper." I said with a smirk. "Why don't you tell me that list again." Joey said with a smirk. I laughed and told him the many reasons why I love him the rest of the way home not even realizing he was making me fall head over heels once again.*********************************
