chapter 13

I sighed as I stood in front of my open closet. Joey was sitting on my bed talking to me like he usually did in the mornings or midday when I was getting ready if he didn't have to be anywhere. I really enjoyed how much communication we had.
"You know, you still have a day to pack." Joey said taking a sip from his coffee cup. "I know but I like to make sure that I have everything ahead of time." I said looking at Joey with a small smile as I sat crosslegged next to him on the bed. "Well I know that you don't have a proper suitcase so I thought I'd do some shopping with Donald and decided to pick this up for you." Joey said with happiness as he got up from the bed and pulled out something from underneath it. My eyes widened when it was a Louis Vuitton suitcase large enough to fit a months worth of clothes and then some. "Joey you didn't have to do this. I know how expensive they are!" I said almost a tad angered that he had to pay so much for a suitcase but ever so grateful that he would do such a sweet gesture to me. "Think of it as one of your early Christmas presents." Joey said with a wink. "Well thanks babe, just be careful on how much you are spending on me." I said grabbing Joey's hands. "And I keep telling you not to worry about it. I'll make you a deal I'll stop spending a ton of money on you if you stop worrying about it." Joey said sitting next to me and pulling me into a hug. "Deal." I sighed. He laughed and kissed my cheek. Causing me to smile up at him after we pulled away from our hug. "So how long are we going to be gone for before we take a break?" I questioned Joey while glancing at my new luggage. ***in cover photo*** "Well, we are taking 3 breaks total, so that would leave us with being on the road for a month and a half before the first break." Joey said. My eyes widened causing Joey to laugh. "This is acctualy pretty short compared to our other travels before getting able to be back home in Nashville." Joey said with a chuckle. "Well at least I'll be with my family the entire way so that makes it better." I said giving Joey a small smile as I made my way towards my closet again and without even asking Joey unzipped my suitcase and placed it on my bed, almost as if he was reading my mind. Acting like it was no big deal Joey sat down on my bed again with his cup of coffee. I started to pull clothes from my closet. It consisted of a lot of basics that I could mix and match. "What states are we visiting before break?" I asked Joey while sorting through my closet. "Chicago first, Indianapolis Indiana , St.Louis Missouri , Des Moines Iowa, and Green Bay Wisconsin." He said flipping through his phone probably checking places and dates. "I'll bring some clothes for chilly weather then." I said while grabbing more leggings and cardigans with some chunky knit scarves. I zipped up my suitcase and rolled it into my closet and shut the door. "Your packed that quick?" Joey said while looking up from his phone with a confused expression. "Yeah?" I replied just as confused as I took Joey's coffee cup and took a sip from it then gave it back. "I've never seen a girl pack that fast." Joey said flabbergasted. "It helps when you have a lot of basics to mix and match so I can practically throw stuff in and find matches for it later." I said ruffling Joey's hair then started to walk out of my room, his foot steps soon sounding from behind me.
We walked into the kitchen where I made myself another cup of coffee then made Joey another one. We sat at the table discussing times and protocol for the tour. We both looked over iteneraries and started to plug dates and times as well as locations into our phone for the first leg of the tour. This took us about an hour. Joeys phone started ringing and Caleb's name popped up on the screen, Joey answered and put it on speaker as he continued to glance over the schedule. "Hey man what's up!" Joey said to Caleb. "I was actually on my way with Kels to buy some stuff for the bus, do you and Kalyn want to join us?" Caleb asked. "Sure! Give us about 15 minutes to get ready and we will meet you at the store with my car so we have extra space." Joey said. "Sounds good see you guys soon." Caleb said. "Later man." Joey replied and the line went dead after he hung up. "What exactly does one buy for a tour?" I questioned pulling on my ugg boots and my purse. "More than you could imagine." Joey said as he grabbed the keys and we headed to Sam's club.
Once there we met up with Caleb and Kelsey and each got a cart. Caleb had us get the food while they got the travel necessities. The list itself for just the food was a notebook page and a half long. I stared at it wide eyed as Caleb left with Kelsey. "All this for a month and a half?" I questioned as I handed it to Joey who quickly scanned it and headed towards our first aisle. "Trust me, we will probably need to buy more half way through the first leg." Joey said with a smirk as he started grabbing stuff and lightly dropping it into the plastic shopping cart. "You guys must still eat like your a teenager going through puberty." I said as I started to help Joey add things to the cart and cross them off the list. "I don't think we ever grew out of that stage." Joey said with a loud laugh. "Well if I must say, puberty did a pretty good job with you." I said with a wink and smirk. Joey blushed as he began to push the cart making his way through the aisle. After we finished our list I was sure that we had over $200 worth of food alone. Kelsey and Caleb probably had at least the same amount if not more. "This Is gonna be a ton of money." I said staring at both carts as we made our way towards check out. "That's why we have a credit card for the bands bank account." Caleb said flashing the gold metallic visa card. Me and Joey were on bagging crew as the items were passed under the scanner by the checkout clerk. Caleb and kelsey were in charge of making sure everything was scanned and nothing was forgotten. Both cars were filled to the brim with bags in the back seats and completely filling both trunks. "Soo, where are we gonna store all of this?" I asked as I shut the trunk of me and Joey's car. "Well we have a rather large fridge and freezer back at our office so why don't we meet up there and see how much we can store." Caleb suggested. We all agreed and we all met back at the office. All of the non food items were placed in two large boxes that once held t-shirts in. All the food luckily fit in the fridge and freezer and non refigerable items were placed in an empty T-shirt box as well. "Do you guys wanna go grab a bite to eat with us?" Kelsey asked as she set the last of the boxes on the table near the fridge. "Sounds good to me, what about you Joe?" I questioned hoping he would say yes and strongly doubting he would say no. "Sure! I'll pay." Joey said grabbing his car keys. "Not if I get the check first." Caleb teased toward Joey as he shut and locked the door to the office as we excited. "Why don't we just split the check?" I laughed getting in between Joey and Caleb. "Great idea Kalyn." Kelsey said passing me a wink as if she was trying to say that they always tried to one up each other like brothers. "How about pizza? We can go to your favorite place Joe." Caleb said as he grabbed Kelsey's hand. "You just read my mind bro, see you there." Joey said patting Caleb's back before walking me to his car and helping me in like the gentleman he always is.
It took us about a 15-20 minute drive before pulling up to a pizza place that looked classic and a bit vintage. We got a table for four and ordered a large thin crust pizza with tons of pepperoni and an order if bread sticks on the side. We helped ourselves and the first bite was heaven. I closed my eyes in content. "And now you know why it's my favorite place." Joey said as he took a bite of his. "Just saying, for date night I highly suggest this be our next place if at all possible." I said taking a sip of my water. "Noted!" Joey said tapping his temple in a signaling manner of the act of remembering. "You excited to be going on your first tour?" Kelsey asked me while nibbling on a bread stick. "Soo excited, I'll get to be hearing the best music and meeting soo many amazing fans that made the guys dreams come true. For the first time I'll be surrounded by my family 24/7 that love me and I wouldn't have it any other way. Nothing better than traveling with your boyfriend and family making peoples dreams come true and spreading gods word through a microphone." I said while leaning my head on Joey's shoulder as he wrapped an arm around my shoulders and gave me a hug. "Were really excited to have you Kalyn. Its great to have an amazing addition like you to this family." Caleb said with a smile which I returned. "And who knows there might be a Stamper wedding in future." Kelsey said with a wink and smirk. Causing me and Joey to blush. "Hopefully." Joey said softly as he looked into my eyes with his face sporting a blush. I smiled and looked down trying to hide my blush. "Seriously though Joe, put a ring on it." Caleb said . "In time, I mean we just started dating a month or two ago." Joey said as I felt his hand find mine under the table as he grabbed it and intertwined our fingers together. "Well, when that time comes I know you two will be the perfect example of a godly relationship going into matrimony." Kelsey said as she turned to Caleb and smile as he kissed her on the cheek. I smiled and looked to Joey, god brought us together again for a reason. Whether or not it was for the benefit of me and or Joey I'm glad it happened.
We finished our pizza and spent the rest of the day walking around downtown Nashville, we visited parks, mueseums, and even the Parthenon where Joey and Caleb said they had filmed their "fix you" cover by coldplay which would be edited and published by the time we got done with the first leg of the tour. We took several silly pictures together each were saved on my phone so I could get together with Fallon after the tour was over and make a scrapbook, it had always been something I wanted to do and now seemed the time to do it. We ended the day by watching fireworks at the Parthenon.
"This was such a fun afternoon!" I said happily as we walked to our cars, both couples holding hands. "We have a lot of fun as a family Kay, by the time we are all old and winkly you will have about a million and then some memories." Kelsey said with a smirk as the fall air soothed our tired faces with a soft, crisp breeze. I smiled at Joey who returned it with a soft gaze and small smile.
We bid our farewells and got into our cars and made our departure home. "The excitement is already strongly sinking in for this tour." I babbled getting all giddy. "You'll have a lot more respect for sleep after it though." Joey said with a smirk. "I'm guessing this isn't your first rodeo?" I questioned brushing the hair out of my face and tucking it behind my ear. "I've been on smaller rodeos before this, this is one of our larger ones." Joey said with a laugh. "Well as long as I'm with you I'll be fine." I said rubbing Joey's arm in a loving way. We finally reached the house the clock on the dashboard read 11:30 p.m. "how long were we gone?" I said before my voice was attacked with a yawn "almost 8 hours." Joey laughed as he looked towards me after shutting the car off, tiredness had set in his eyes but he hid it with a loving smile. "We have a big day tomorrow, we pack the bus then we leave so let's try to get some sleep." Joey said. "Oh how I'll miss my sweet bed." I said over dramatic. Joey laughed and helped me out of the car and we both walked up to the house and entered. We walked hand in hand and Joey came to my room to say goodnight. "Im going to change real quick, I'll be back in a minute." I told joey as I grabbed some PJs then kissed him on the cheek before walking into my bathroom and began to get ready for bed. After I had changed my clothes I removed my makeup and put my dark honey blond hair highlighted with light golden blond into a bun. I washed my face and brushed my teeth before walking out of the bathroom. I smiled as Joey had fallen asleep with sunglasses still on his head and his phone in his hands. I walked over and gently removed his glasses and phone and put them on the bedside table on his side. I then took off his shoes and placed them in his room. I turned the lights off and made sure the front door was locked before entering my room. I set my alarm on my phone to 8 a.m. by now it was midnight so we would both get a full 8 hours of heavenly sleep. I put my phone on the charger before crawling into bed and snuggling into Joey who automatically put his arm around me as if it was a habit that he had his whole life. I fell asleep to the smell of his cologne and the sound of his heartbeat.
