Daisy

Jenny was sitting at my station frowning. I don't know why I was responsible for Bear not bringing Rachel back after the wedding, but somehow, I was in trouble because she wasn't here. I was in trouble with a lot of people.

So here I was on the phone trying to call Bear. It had rung out once already.
" 'Lo," A very sleepy Bear answered.
"Where are you? Rachel is supposed to be here by now? What happened!"
"What, what's the time? Shit, sorry Daiz. We just woke up again."
"Really?!" I snapped. I call Bullshit on this. He was here right on opening every day since she arrived, and he had a reputation of being an early riser. "What the fuck were you doing that you slept in?"
Silence met my question, until an amused Bear replied.
"Do you really want an answer to that?"
"You..." I blinked," what?! Is she OK?"
He chuckled.
"She's fine, a little tired, but fine. We'll pack up and up I'll bring her over. Um, Daiz?"
"Yes?"
"How much longer will you need to keep her for? I, I kinda want her home." The big bad bear sounded like a kid wanting his grounded best friend to come out and play.
"I don't know, Bear. We'll see how she is when she arrives and let you know."
"Ok, also... I'm going to have a chat to get about contraception. Can you have some options ready for her if she decides?"
What?! My mind couldn't catch up with how fast this moved. I dropped my head onto my hands.
"Yes, sure. I'll see you when you get here, Bear."

I hung up.
"Well, what did he say?" Jenny demanded.
"They're coming."
"What's keeping them?!"
I paused before I answered. I didn't know whether I wanted to choke Bear, or fist pump.
"Daisy? What's keeping them?"
"They slept in."
"Rachel never sleeps in? It must have been an exhausting day for her. I hope she's OK." One of the nurses wandered away.
"I think she is." I muttered, collecting up some paperwork.
"Why do you say that?" Jenny asked suspiciously.
"Never mind."
"Daisy, what did he do to her." Jenny demanded.
I looked up at her, unsuccessfully hiding my smile.
"Oh no, " she started backing away, "tell me they didn't."
My smile grew into a grin. Thankfully she was melting into one too. "Did they?"she asked excitedly.
"Well we have to talk to Rach about contraceptives, sooooo."

Jenny squealed slightly, then glanced at me.
"Sorry, that was unprofessional of me." She said with a big grin.
"Not at all, Bear's a good guy. One of the best. I'm sure he made it a night to remember."

Bear

Rachel was sad, and frustrated. She wasn't able to eat much breakfast, and the things she'd seen on our way down the stairs to the truck, had intrigued her to the point she wanted to stay. She tried to keep her frustrations hidden, but my Sweet Pea wasn't happy. So she released her frustrations by questioning me.

"So the customers drive in, tell the men what they need." She was busy trying to process what she'd seen.
I nodded in response.
"The men get the goods, load it into the customers car, and then go to the computer and record the customer's purchases against their account."
"Yes," I affirmed.
"And then the customers pay their accounts once a month?"
I nodded.
"What happens if they don't pay their accounts?"
I frowned, I didn't really know.
"Not sure, Maz usually handles that. Not sure how long she lets them keep going until they can't add on any more." I replied. This is a book that is free to read through Wattpad. It's by LTM1986 who will love your comments and feedback through Wattpad.
"Because I'm not sure how Pa was paying our bill with you. As far as I know we didn't have much money."

"You make a very good point, Rachel. I'm going to have to look into that." I told her.
"Are you sure? I'm sure I'm just prattling on, like Ma used to tell me I was."
"I'm definitely sure, Rach. You're making me concerned about something I might have been missing."
"I'm sorry, Bear."
I threw a concerned look across the cabin at her.
"Why?"
"I'm bringing trouble."
I barked out a laugh.
"Oh Sweet pea, you're bringing truth not trouble. I love the way your mind works. I'm falling more and more in love with you each day."
"I love you too Bear."
I reached across for her hand and squeezed it gently.

"There is something we need to talk about before we get back to the hospital." I started.
She hummed and looked at me with concern in her big eyes.
"How do you feel about waiting a little while before we have children?"
"Oh," she blinked and frowned."I honestly hadn't thought about that."
"There's some medications you can take that will help prevent you falling pregnant for a short time. They're
called contraceptives." I tried to pick my words carefully.
"Don't you want to have children with me?"
"Oh God yes, I'd love to have kids with you. I'd love to see little replicas of you running around. But..."
"But?" She asked
I pulled into a car space, and turned to her.
"I want to do it when you're as healthy as you can be. I want to have kids when you are ready for them, mentally and physically. I'm OK with waiting."
"How do you know I'm not ready now?" She looked at me through her lashes. This felt like a trick question.
"Apart from your body still needing to put on weight, I don't. I only know that we've been married one day, and agreed to it four days ago. This has been fast."
She smiled in agreement.
"I want you to know that you have choices with me. I don't own you. I definitely don't own your body. I am happy to wait for you to decide what you want." I looked at the smile creeping across her face as I talked.
"Rach, I was even prepared to wait last night. I was content to just sleep with you in my arms. You have given me the greatest gift I could ever have by saying yes to being my wife. Everything else is a bonus. Especially making love to you. I can't believe that you let me. You're truely amazing."
Her smile was like a sunrise across her face. She lent over and planted a kiss on my lips.
"I'm the lucky one, Bear." Then she glanced over at the hospital and sighed.
"How much longer do you think I'll have to stay?"
"Hopefully not too much longer. I'm going to miss you."
