Horse

Today was the day my best friend was getting married. He wanted to keep it as small as possible. Momma and I were determined to attend, along with just about everyone else. So it ended up being as big as possible. We'd managed to convince them to take it to the clubhouse. This is a free book available through Wattpad (c) LTM1986. If you are not reading this on Wattpad, it had been stolen.
It wouldn't quite shut down the town like Daisy's and Midwife's wedding. But enough of the boys were coming to make it a celebration.

My only concern was Momma was having another bad day. Her hands were visibly shaking without doing anything again, and I'd planned to arrive on the bike with her.

Momma stumbled through the doorway with a small coil of rope in her hands.
"So you think this will be enough?" She asked.
"Enough for what?"
"To tie me to you so I don't fall off when we're riding." She explained with a cheeky grin.
I laughed.
"You sure, we can take the truck, Momma."
"Don't you dare, I'm arriving on the back of your bike and that's that. Besides it might give Bear some ideas for keeping Rachel on the back where she belongs." She winked.

I laughed and hugged her.

Rachel

Daisy and her husband came to pick me up from the hospital. They also brought Janie, who was the wife of the club president. Janie brought a lovely white dress for me to wear. It was smooth and silky.
"This was my wedding dress back in the day, this can count for your something borrowed." She said.
I looked confused.
"Its a saying for weddings. The bride must have something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue." She explained.
"Oh no, I've none of those things!" I stressed.
Daisy laughed
"Your ring is old, that counts." She pointed out. "Your flowers are blue, thanks Shaquille."
I didn't know who or what Shaquille was. But apparently the blue sweet peas came from them.
"That only leaves new."
"Um I have new underwear?" I ventured.
Janie grew a smirk across her face.
"Now there's an idea." She pulled out her phone and played with it a bit, then went and spoke with the man outside my door.
"Prospects come in handy." Janie looked very proud of herself as she returned.

"Come and sit down, I'll do your hair while we wait for the prospect to return." Janie said.
"Maybe also see if you can nap while we're doing it. It's going to be a big day for you."Daisy said, brushing my hair soothingly. "I can't wait for Rosey to have hair this long. It's beautiful."

I closed my eyes and rested as much as I could while they made me feel special. Until the prospect came back. Now I learnt that Janie had a cheeky streak in her.

I picked up the scraps of see through lace in confusion.
"What are these?"
The prospect ran out of the room, after turning an interesting shade of pink.
Janie cackled, while Daisy tried to throw her a glare.
"Those are sexy underwear, to be worn mainly to be gotten out of." She explained. I was still confused.
"Has anyone explained the birds and the bees to you?" Janie started.
"What's to explain? Birds sing and bees make honey." I replied.
"Hmm what Janie's meaning is, has anyone explained what happens on a wedding night."
I paled and whispered, "Pa."

Daisy glared at Janie with an added harshness this time, then grabbed my hands.
"Rach, Bear is not like Pa. He will not hurt you. He will listen to you. Has he ever been mean to you?"
I took a deep breath, and shook my head.
"Ok, so in most marriages, the husband is a man like Bear, who loves his wife, and wants to make her feel good. This underwear is designed to be a signal to the man, that she loves him too, and wants to make him feel good." Daisy's earnest explanation made me feel better. She was right, Bear wouldn't hurt me.
"Sometimes girls wear this underwear to make themselves feel good." Janie joined in. " Underwear like this can make her body look good, which makes us feel good, even when we're the only ones who know that we're wearing it. Sort of like a really good secret."

I sighed, that made sense.
"Its underwear, no one will know I'm wearing this?" I asked.
"Not unless you tell them." Daisy confirmed.
"But I want to be close by when you tell Bear. I think he'll blush more than the Prospect." Janie grinned.
"Janie" Daisy warned, then looked at me. "You'd never believe she's the boss woman of the club with the way she behaves, would you?"
I giggled.

Daisy stood up and closed the curtains around me again.
"Come on Rach, let's try these on and see how you feel."

Bear

I looked around at the clubhouse. People were starting to roll in, and someone had already rolled out the red carpet. My simple little wedding, that wouldn't overwhelm Rachel, had gotten out of control. Now instead of the little hospital chapel wedding performed by Jonathon, he and Amy were walking with Rachel down the aisle. The ceremony would be performed by the same celebrant who conducted Midwife and Daisy's celebration. They apparently jumped at the chance to conduct the wedding.

It was really happening. Horse was helping his Momma walk up to me.
She beamed at me.
"Congratulations, Bear." She said, lifting her walking sticks and giving me a hug.
"I wish you many years of peace. Something you would never have gotten with Marilyn."
I hugged her back.
"Maz isn't interested in me, Momma. If she was, she'd have spoken up, and I would have set her straight. She's just a friend." I assured her.
She and Horse glanced at each other and burst out laughing.
"You're cute, Bear. I'm looking forward to meeting Rachel. Now I'm going to find my seat before I fall." She said glibly. Horse looked concerned, though, and hovered as she walked up the aisle before finding a seat. I noticed Dylan and D2 crept over to sit next to her. Those two were fascinated with Momma and the stories she told.

"You OK?" I asked Horse when he returned. He nodded, then shook his head.
"She's been getting worse. I don't know why. She won't say what the doctors are telling her." He admitted.
"She's the one you're watching instead of doing your assessments, isn't she?" I guessed. He nodded.
"Well you're right, she's absolutely gorgeous." I teased him. He grinned.
"I know."
Then Eric came running in.
"Midwife's arriving!!"
And it was show time.
