Bear
I watched the side of Rachel's face as the confrontation went on. She was very confused, I'd have to fill her in on the drama. It wasn't every day that you sat with your nephew's Dad, and his ex wife with her current husband during a stand off with her disgraced mother. What actually surprised me was that Blaze didn't stand up for Molly. He stood up for Daiz, and apologised to her.
Prez might be right. He may have changed. Although the biggest change I've seen might be how he treats Dylan. The man held his child like an alcoholic with a bottle of whiskey, even when he went outside Dylan was holding his hand. D2 followed them and grabbed his other hand.
"Damn, that man seems to have grown up. What the fuck happened?" Horse pointed out. I rolled my eyes.
"For Fucks sake, Horse. Watch your language!" I growled.
"Rachel! Control your husband! He's swearing again" Horse demanded with a grin, eliciting a giggle from my girl. She lifted her hand and stroked my beard.
"Its nothing I haven't heard already." She looked up at me as she spoke, and all my bad mood went away. then she turned to Daisy.
"Forgive me if this is rude, but... how is she your former mother?"
Daisy gritted her teeth and drew in a breath.
"When she told me that I was responsible for the death of my son, I had to disown her. It was the final straw in a long list of abuse that she delivered to me. I had a panic attack on the side of the road and Jim had to save me, again. I realised then that she never cared for me as a person, only a way to achieve whatever goal she had." She replied.
Rachel gasped.
"That's horrible, how could you forgive that?"
Daisy looked at her. "I'm not."
She stood up and walked outside too."There's a long history behind that Sweet pea."I told her, "don't worry about it."
She looked up at me, concern and confusion reading in her beautiful eyes.
"But Forgiveness is a virtue." She said.
I shook my head.
"Some things are unforgivable." I told her.
She added a frown to her face. I kissed her little nose.
"Don't worry about it, Sweet pea. Other people's problems are theirs to handle. "
"But that poor old lady!"
"Her situation is entirely her own making. Come on," I stood up and lifted her off the seat. "Let's go home and get some rest. Tomorrow is another day."
"Ma used to say that too after a hard day." Rachel's face shone with the memory, "she stopped saying it in the months before she died though."
"I can imagine her life was hard. Buts two days from now is Sunday, you can go to church, and pray for her." I reminded her.Her eyes brightened up.
Unfortunately Church did not go well for her. I'm not sure exactly what happened. But it was the first time that my Sweet pea shut down on me and refused to talk. And she continued to sit down on me every time she attended.
The topic of attending Church remained taboo between us for three months. She's would always dress up in one of her dresses given to her by Amy. I would drive her to the church and drop her off, shake hands with Jonathon, and then leave. I'd come back after 2 hours and she'd be waiting. The others would be socializing, but she'd be out the front waiting for me. If you are reading this on any other platform other than Wattpad, please be aware that you may be missing out. There is no cost to read on Wattpad and this story is directly uploaded to that platform. I reminded her that she didn't need to attend if she didn't want to, she was always in control of her choices. Instead of smiling and gleaming at me, like she did when I'd remind her of her autonomy anywhere else, she'd glower at me, and tell me she had to go.
Luckily her bad moods were only for Sundays. Every other day was rainbows and sunshine... even if there were storms. Her literacy had improved to the extent that she was helping me with accounts. Maz was a great help, but she dropped a bombshell on me one Friday night. She handed me a letter.
"What's this?" I asked, as I accepted it.
Rachel stood up from her desk and came over to me. The past three months of good eating and Crackers cooking lessons had added a lovely softness to my wifes figure. I loved it when she slid into my lap and pressed those fantastic hips into me.Maz twisted her shirt in her hands nervously.
"It's my resignation letter, I've been accepted into an accounting course at the college in the city. Daisy has lined up an apartment for me to share with a student nurse. I've also got a job lined up as part time bookkeeper while I'm studying." She blurted, "I think Rachel has my role covered, there's only a few more things to show her. I'll can do that over the next two weeks."Rachel stood up and hugged Maz as she panicked about telling us. My sweet pea always knew the right gesture to give.
"You were always meant for better things, Maz." I told her over my wifes shoulder.
She nodded, her eyes welling up with tears.
"Can I ask you a favor?" She took a deep breath. "Can you keep an eye on Momma and Justin for me? Make sure he gets a break?"
Rachel broke the hug and I knew she had a tender look in her face as she reassured Maz.
"Of course we will. We'll take good care of them for you."
Maz was crying now.
"I know Momma doesn't have much time left, so please..."
"We'll let you know if anything happens." I reassured her too.
"Thankyou," Maz nodded and stepped out of the office."Poor Maz," Rachel returned to my lap where she belonged. "That must have been a hard decision for her."
I picked up the letter and read it.
"Yes it was." I replied. The letter was simple, thanking us for the opportunities she'd been given, etc, etc. But the tear stains on it spoke of how hard it was to write. Rachel sighed.
"I'll pray for her tonight. I hope she finds happiness and success in the future. Just like I have."
