"I'm ecstatic; it feels surreal that we're actually in a relationship," I murmured to myself, tossing and turning throughout the night, unable to sleep as thoughts of Ric and our upcoming date danced through my mind.
Morning broke, and I sprang out of bed before the alarm could even sound, eager for the day ahead. A warm shower invigorated me, washing away any lingering sleepiness. Stepping out and surveying myself in the mirror, I couldn't help but grin at my reflection. "Perfect," I chuckled softly, pleased with how I looked.
Just as I prepared to leave, my dad's voice stopped me in my tracks. "Where are you off to so early?" he inquired with a hint of curiosity. It dawned on me that I had forgotten to inform him about my plans.
"I'm heading to the theater, Dad," I replied hastily, a mix of excitement and nerves bubbling in my voice. "I might not make it for dinner tonight, so please go ahead without me. And remember to take your medicine," I added, rushing out the door without looking back, my mind racing with thoughts of Ric and our impending date.
Arriving at the end of the street where we had agreed to meet, I dialed Ric's number. After what felt like an eternity of anticipation, he finally appeared before me. His smile was warm and welcoming, easing some of my nerves as we exchanged greetings.
As we began walking together, however, a palpable awkwardness settled between us like a thick fog. The silence seemed louder than any words we could muster. I fidgeted with the strap of my bag, searching for something to say, while Ric glanced around nervously, seemingly lost in his thoughts.
After a few moments of this uncomfortable silence, I finally spoke up, trying to break the tension. "So, uh, any thoughts on what movie we should watch?" I asked, hoping to steer our conversation towards a more comfortable ground.
Ric looked relieved at the change of topic, and we began discussing movie options, gradually easing into a more relaxed rhythm. As we walked side by side, the initial awkwardness started to dissipate, replaced by a growing sense of anticipation and excitement for our first official date
We're watching a movie suggested by Aaron. We found ourselves amidst a couple. Aargh they're doing things That make us uncomfortable.
The couple beside us was feeding popcorn to each other when I looked at Ric, who was already looking at me. What am I supposed to do to do now? Does he want me to fill his mouth with popcorn? I wanted to ask him but he turned away and started watching a movie.
"Forget about it"I shoved off my thoughts. Maybe he's not thinking like I was thinking. Again the same Boy and Girl, she leaned her head on the shoulder...he leaned his head too on her.....This is all common for a couple, but I don't feel like staying there anymore because this is all new to me....maybe one day I'll get used to them, and I shrug off my shoulders.....
"Ric, shall we go?" I stood up looking at him. He nodded and came outside in the middle of the movie.
The restaurant buzzed with a comforting hum of chatter and clinking cutlery as we settled into our seats. I couldn't help but notice a couple nearby, fully engrossed in each other's company. They exchanged playful gestures, feeding each other with unabashed affection. Their intimate display brought a soft chuckle to my lips, though I couldn't deny a slight blush of embarrassment at witnessing such overt displays of love.
Beside me, Ric's gaze mirrored my own, his eyes following the couple's every move with a mix of curiosity and perhaps a hint of longing. Remembering his similar look from the theater, I couldn't resist teasing him, "Do you want me to feed you?" His initial reaction was a subtle shake of his head, but there was a flicker of amusement in his eyes.
Undeterred, I decided to playfully challenge him, placing a spoonful of food in front of him before he could protest further. He glanced at me with a bemused expression, clearly caught off guard by my spontaneity. "Go on, eat," I urged with a grin, silently daring him to reject the offer. To my surprise, he relented, picking up the fork and taking a bite without resistance.
