Two years had passed since Ana came into our lives, filling our home with her laughter and boundless energy. It was a typical day, and we were gathered around the dining table for a meal. Ana, now a lively toddler, came toddling over with a broken toy clutched in her tiny hands. Her expression conveyed both disappointment and a plea for comfort.
Instinctively understanding her, I lifted Ana onto my lap, her warmth and innocence a soothing balm. "Don't worry, my daughter," I reassured her softly, "your mom will give you siblings to play with soon." Saakshi, caught off guard by my spontaneous remark, choked on her food, her eyes widening in surprise. I gently patted Saakshi's back and handed her a glass of water to help ease her surprise
The tension dissolved into a moment of shared amusement as I chuckled at Saakshi's reaction. Ana, meanwhile, squirmed playfully in my lap before deciding to explore further on her own, her tiny steps echoing with determination and curiosity.
Saakshi, regaining her composure, glanced at me with a mixture of amusement and incredulity, silently questioning my sudden declaration. I met her gaze with a knowing smile, acknowledging the hope and anticipation that my light-hearted comment had sparked about our family's future.
As we continued our meal, the atmosphere was filled with the sounds of Ana's laughter and our conversation, punctuated by occasional glances exchanged between Saakshi and me, conveying unspoken reassurances and shared dreams. In that simple moment around the table, amidst the everyday joys and challenges of parenthood, we found comfort and joy in the love that bound us together as a family.
Saakshi was leaving without saying a word, and I followed her. She pretended like nothing had happened and continued doing her work. I hugged her from behind and said, "So...shall we give her a sibling so that she can play with them?" She blushed and started looking into my eyes. "I'll consider that a yes then," I said. She left, saying, "In your dreams."

I was busy watering the plants in the garden. Ric was sitting and doing his work. I was more than happy to have him in my life, and my daughter, my unanswered prayers, brought valuable gifts into my life. I'm busy in watering and sparing glances to my handsome husband splinter pricked in my finger. I whined in pain. Soon, Ric rushed towards me and scolded me for not being careful.
"It's just a splinter. It won't harm me," I retorted back.
"Ric, do you remember the day in Woods thorn pricked in my foot?" he nodded.
"You know on that day I thought you'd give me a piggyback ride I'm in my imagination world you know what I had imagined" he shook his head in no I continued
"You gave me a piggyback ride; I felt blissful; I think today luck is on my side. I'm enjoying every moment. With you beside me, then you waved your hand in front of me, then I came out of my imagination world."
"Holy moly, What on the earth was I thinking? I can't get over these crazy things when I am around you... " I cursed myself.
"Are you alright?" you said back then looking into my eyes. That's the first time you gave me eye contact. I stumbled you caught me by my wrist. I felt shy when I looked into your deep, dark orbs; I lost myself in them.
" I think I'm fine," I said, looking down because I can't look into your eyes. They attract me towards you more and more.
Then you said "It's just a splinter no need to worry come let's go, " I thought you were a cruel person and I trailed you cursing you
"Ummm ..... that day I was worried about you and thought about giving you a piggyback ride, but I thought you'd misunderstand me, so I gave a cold shoulder to you... Sorry," I burst into laughter.
