Krit and Vel stood outside the lavish party hall, the opulence of the venue reflected in the grandeur of the entrance. The building exuded an air of wealth and sophistication, with its gleaming marble floors and intricate gold detailing. The doors were flanked by tall, elegantly dressed doormen, and a steady stream of well-dressed guests flowed in and out.

Vel, clad in a striking red suit that showcased a hint of his chest, couldn’t help but feel a twinge of unease. The extravagance of the setting was overwhelming, and he felt slightly out of place amidst the glittering crowd. Krit, beside him in a sleek black patterned suit, his Swiss watch catching the light, looked every bit the part of a confident, polished gentleman.

As they entered the hall, Vel's gaze swept over the opulent decorations and the sea of impeccably dressed guests. His initial confidence wavered, and he shifted uncomfortably, feeling the weight of his insecurities.

Krit squeezed Vel’s hand reassuringly before guiding him further into the hall. Just then, a familiar voice cut through the buzz of conversation.

“Krit kitkaruwannakul! What a pleasant surprise!”

Krit turned to see Jeanne approaching, his face lighting up with genuine warmth. Jeanne had been a father figure to Krit during his time in France, and their relationship was one of mutual respect and affection.

“I didn’t expect to see you here,” Jeanne continued, his eyes twinkling with curiosity. “How did you manage to come? I thought your father was supposed to attend.”

Krit smiled, a hint of frustration flashing in his eyes. “My father couldn’t make it, so he insisted I come in his place. It’s a bit of a last-minute arrangement, but here we are.”

Jeanne’s expression softened, and he reached out to give Krit a firm hug. “Well, it’s wonderful to see you. And I must say, you look very distinguished.”

As Jeanne pulled back, Pierre, Jeanne’s husband, joined them. Pierre’s face broke into a delighted grin upon seeing Krit.

“Krit! It’s been too long,” Pierre exclaimed, enveloping Krit in a warm embrace. “I’m so glad you could make it. Your father may have sent you, but it’s good to see you nonetheless.”

Krit returned the hug with a smile. “It’s good to see you too, Pierre. I hope the party’s going well.”

“It is,” Pierre said, stepping back. “And now that you’re here, it’s even better. Come, let’s get you something to drink. We have a lot to catch up on.”

Krit glanced at Vel, who stood slightly behind him, still adjusting to the grandeur of the surroundings. “Vel, this is Jeanne and Pierre. They’ve been like family to me while I was here.”

Jeanne and Pierre exchanged warm greetings with Vel, who, though still a bit overwhelmed, managed a polite smile. The night had only just begun, and Vel couldn’t help but feel a mixture of anticipation and apprehension about what the evening would bring.

As Krit and Vel sipped their drinks, enjoying the lively atmosphere, a new pair entered the hall. Mary, exuding confidence in her masculine attire, walked in with her arm linked with Leia’s. Leia, Pierre and Jeanne’s daughter, looked equally elegant, her hand comfortably resting on Mary’s arm.

Jeanne and Pierre’s eyes sparkled with recognition as they turned to Krit. “Do you remember these two most important?” Jeanne asked, a knowing smile on his face.

Krit’s expression shifted to one of amused recollection. “Oh, I can’t forget them. Mary here was the person who used to copy all my homework and ask for help during school exams. How could I forget?”
