Pon stepped out of his family mansion, spotting Sai leaning casually against his sleek black car, arms crossed, looking effortlessly cool. Sai straightened up when he saw Pon approach, a soft smile tugging at his lips.
“Hey,” Pon greeted with a quick wave, his heart racing a bit as it always did around Sai.
“Hey yourself,” Sai responded, opening the passenger door for him. “Hop in. Let’s get going.”
Pon loaded his things in the back and settled into the passenger seat, both of them sitting in comfortable silence as Sai pulled out of the driveway and onto the road. Pon glanced at Sai out of the corner of his eye. The quiet was nice, but there was something lingering in the air, something they both knew had to be addressed.
“So,” Pon finally broke the silence, his voice a bit more serious, “are we actually ready to explore each other’s lives a little bit? I mean, we can't really date if we don’t know anything about each other, right?”
Sai smirked, his eyes still on the road. “Absolutely. We're going to get to know each other, no rushing. Let’s start with something easy.” He shifted slightly in his seat, shooting Pon a quick glance. “I’ll tell you about my life, you tell me about yours.”
Pon nodded, sitting up a little straighter. “Alright. My name’s Pon. I’m a first-year business student. I love reading books, especially historical fiction. I also really, really like coffee. Oh, and I like dating people older than me.”
Sai chuckled at the subtle hint, knowing exactly who Pon was referring to. “Older than you, huh? Nine years older, maybe?”
Pon grinned. “Maybe.”
Sai shook his head, amused. “Alright, fair enough. My name’s Sai. I’m a car mechanic, as you know. Don’t have a big list of hobbies like you though. I like driving, drinking beer, and... well, that’s about it. My life’s a bit simpler than yours.”
Pon raised an eyebrow, his lips quirking into a teasing smile. “That’s it? Sounds a little boring, don’t you think?”
Sai gave him a playful side-eye. “Hey, I didn’t know I was being interviewed.”
Pon laughed, the tension breaking between them. “Maybe you should’ve prepared more.”
Sai laughed too, the sound deep and warm. “Alright, alright. I’ll work on being more interesting for you. But for now, let’s see what we discover together.”
The banter flowed between them easily, and the atmosphere in the car felt lighter as they continued down the road, the conversation just beginning.
Sai and Pon entered the cafe, a chic spot in the heart of Bangkok with large glass windows offering a view of the busy streets. The interior was cozy but elegant, with modern art on the walls and polished wooden tables that glistened under the soft lighting. They found a corner table, and as they pulled up their chairs, Sai couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.
“Don’t you think this place is a bit… expensive?” Sai asked, scanning the menu briefly. “I heard this is one of the most expensive cafes in Bangkok.”
Pon chuckled, rolling his eyes playfully. “It’s not that expensive. You need to stop worrying about things like that.” He waved off Sai’s concerns with a dismissive hand. “Let’s talk about something more interesting. Tell me about yourself.”
Sai set the menu down and leaned back in his chair, eyeing Pon with mild curiosity. “What exactly do you want to know?”
“You know… like your life, your daily activities, how you know Vel, for example. And how was your childhood? Who are your family members? Likes, dislikes? Have you ever dated anyone before?” Pon listed with an innocent smile.
