Arjun paced the room tensed. He was awaiting the lab reports on the letter. The moment he saw the letter he panicked, but the officer in him refused to jump to conclusions. Years of training taught him caution. He could not jump to conclusions. The brother in him wanted to give in to the demand, but the Phoenix was not created to bow down to the enemy.

For the first time in his life he wished he did not have the burden of the mask. It was not that he did not wish to be the phoenix but he wished he was free to prioritize his family over everything else. Arjun sat down, as his heart became heavy. Since moment he had seen his bhaiya in the uniform, he wanted to follow in his footsteps. Like Abhimaan he wanted to do something for the country, but he knew he was not cut for army life. He had huge respect for the army, but he was a social person. He needed to be with people. The thought of leaving his family behind for such extended periods of time was not something he could live with. So he did not know what he should be perusing.

The day he turned 21, his father brought up his career. Arjun could never forget the day. He was waiting all day for his bhaiya to come back home. It was not everyday that someone turned 21. His bhaiya promised him that he would come for his birthday and Abhimaan Rajwanshi, alwyas lived up to his promise.

As the sunset, Arjun's heart sank. It never happened that his bhaiya missed his birthday. Even the night before Abhimaan had assured him that he would come to meet him. The wait was stretching forever. IT was two months since Arjun had seen his bhaiya and the distance was taking a toll on him.

As he waited outside, he could hear the music from the living room. His birthday party was in full swing. Ash  had outdone herself. He did not want the party but she refused to listen. Arjun did not have the heart to disappoint his siblings, so he gave in as he always did. He had to go back to the party but his heart was elsewhere.
