The bond between a parent and child, superseded any other relationship. Arjun never agreed with his father, they had their fair share of differences but somewhere, he always felt connected with the man. His father was his hero for a long time, and when your hero fails you, the blow is more difficult to survive. That was the reason why he felt hurt, why he could never forget the bond that was broken. He never became the son Ashok Rajwanshi wanted and Ashok could never become the father he needed him to be.
The only thread that connected them together was Abhimaan Rajwanshi. Arjun hesitated outside his father's door. The truth shook him up. Arnav was a blessing, but he was also a reminder of what they lost. If anyone could be broken by the news it was his father. Arjun did not know how his father would take the news. Ashok was always set his way, too rigid to break the norms. He expected his children to toe a line and never relented. Arjun did not know if Ashok would accept Arnav, but he wanted his father to know the news from him.
"Nahi ho raha. (I am not able to do it.)" Abhi's whine startled Arjun out of his thoughts. The door was closed, but it was slightly ajar. He pushed it back a little to see what was happening. Abhi was sprawled on the bed with books surrounding him. Ashok sat there with the boy, shaking his head in amusement.
"You keep saying that for every problem." Ashok sat down a little straighter. "And why are you here, brat? This mansion is filled with rooms, why do you have to come to my room to study?"
"Because you're the only one with a dumb economics degree." Abhi rolled his eyes, as he looked up at Ashok, receiving a hard whack in reward.
"Ouch! Mara kyun? (Why did you hit me?)" Abhi glared at the old man.
