The atmosphere in the group had shifted, and no one could deny it anymore. Where once Aryan and Riya were the inseparable couple, their falling out had left a ripple effect across their friends. With Aryan gone from Riya's life, her attention had shifted elsewhere specifically, to Keyan. The friendly interactions she once had with him seemed to grow more possessive, her hidden jealousy of Sanna festering like a wound that refused to heal.
Sanna could feel it, too. Every laugh Riya shared with Keyan, every moment she found them talking together it was like a tiny spark igniting a bigger fire in Sanna's chest. She had once brushed it off as harmless, but now, it felt like a threat. It wasn't just about Aryan anymore. Riya's real problem was with *her*.
It was on a rainy Thursday afternoon when the tension finally spilled over. Sanna was sitting in the college café, waiting for Keyan to finish up a group project meeting. The soft patter of rain outside was soothing, but Sanna's mind wasn't at ease. Her phone buzzed with a text from Neha, who had been her constant support in this drama:
**Neha**: *Riya's with Keyan again... talking near the library.*
Sanna sighed, placing her phone face down on the table. It was becoming a pattern now Riya conveniently showing up wherever Keyan was. It was bad enough that she had to deal with Riya at parties and hangouts, but now even in their college space, she felt like a third wheel in her own relationship.
Not long after, Keyan walked into the café, shaking the rain off his jacket and giving her that familiar smile that usually melted all her worries. Today, though, it didn't work. Sanna crossed her arms and looked out the window.
"Hey, Babydoll," Keyan greeted, his voice warm as he sat across from her.
Sanna raised an eyebrow, still looking out the window. "How was the meeting?"
"It was fine," he said, stretching. "Just boring project stuff."
"And Riya?" Sanna's tone was sharper than intended.
Keyan blinked, a little taken aback. "What about her?"
Sanna turned her gaze back to him, her lips pursed. "I heard she was with you... again."
Keyan's face softened, realizing where this was going. He sighed and leaned forward, his elbows resting on the table. "Sanna, you know she's just a friend. We were talking about the project."
"Really?" Sanna's voice was laced with sarcasm. "Because every time I turn around, she's there. Laughing at your jokes, clinging to your side, and always ready to point out my mistakes."
"Come on," Keyan started, trying to keep things calm. "She's just going through a tough time with Aryan."
"Tough time?" Sanna's voice raised slightly. "She's *using* that as an excuse to get close to you, Keyan. I'm not blind. I see what she's doing."
