chapter fifteen , runaway.

The Tardis landed and we rushed out of the doors , we were back in the library and after looking at the still lit laptop screen I knew the Doctor had stuck to him word and we'd only been gone ten minutes.

I crashed out in one of the chairs and looked at The Doctor , he was standing leaning against the Tardis  with a thoughtful look on his face . I was exhausted we had actually been away for three weeks , we had gone to ancient Greece to see the spring celebrations and offerings to the Gods, to a far off planet to see a spectacular asteroid  field , then to see Sherlock Holmes but that didn't go too well.

"So are you going to tell me why we had to rush and come home so quickly?" I asked The Doctor , he was still deep in thought .

" No , I need to think " he snapped briefly looking over to me .

Someone's in a mood , but if he needs to think I'm not sitting around to be snapped at . Matt and Jess are still out at the cinema  so the house is quiet, I put the kettle on to make tea , maybe it will sooth mr grumpy in there.

Heading back into the library with the tea tray , I set it down on the side table and walked over to The Doctor .

"oi, come on sit down and talk." I said pulling him by the hand .

He took a seat and picked up his cup, "There's nothing to talk about" he grumped .

" There most definitely is , you have a face like a slapped backside and you've been stewing since we got back . What the hell has got you like this? You were fine until you saw the OOD , " he flinched a little at the mention of this so I continued " I thought the OOD were your friends , why run from them?"

" Yes they are friends, they would probably love to meet you considering who your mother is but I'm sorry I just don't want to see them yet and if they are seeking me out it can only mean one thing."

That sounded ominous , but at least he was talking to me now.

" Doctor please talk to me , I can't work my magic and fix it f you don't tell me the problem " I tried to get a smile , it almost worked until he looked me in the eye . It's like you could see pieces breaking away .

" Oh Amy if only your magic could work for this , but no  I know what this means and I just have to deal with it . "

"Are you going to clue me in on what the hell has you hurting like this so I can kill it?"

That at least got a proper smile so feeling a bit better about his mood I popped myself onto The Doctors lap, pulling my fingers through his hair gently to sooth him . He started to relax a little dropping his head onto my chest .

"You won't be able to do that for much longer " he whispered

" What do you mean silly? Not planning on having me cut it all off are you?"

"No , the OOD have come to me that can only be a sign of one thing , I'm going to die again soon. They always promised I would never be alone again when it happens , they would always come to me ."

I don't want to hear this , no it can't be happening not now .

" but you've regenerated before , this time will be no different ."

"Because this time I have you, I don't want us to change just because I change . What if I'm too different ?"

"You dumbo , it doesn't matter how different you are I'll just whip you back into line mister."

"I'll bet you will, I just don't want to scare you off " at least the teasing in The Doctors voice was a sign he was getting back to himself. Now it's just a matter of contacting the OOD to find out the finer details of when and where.

Now we seemed to be on the same page I took The Doctor to the kitchen while we waited for Matt and Jess to get back, I made a lasagne and popped it in the oven for later while The Doctor sat thinking things over . we would talk to the OOD and see what they knew about the event to come , if it couldn't be stopped at least we could be prepared . 

A little while later the others got back ,we all sat and had a nice dinner and I told them what I'd seen with The Doctor . Jess almost choked on her food when I told her about The Doctor running out on his engagement to the mothlakian prince ,

" Hey, don't make fun of me . He was all hands and how was I to know he was proposing , all I did was smile at him."

" I thought you knew everything Doctor ?" Matt smirked .

" How about we change the subject , Amy pissed off Sherlock Holmes . He went bright red and yelled at us and everything."  The Doctor said while starring at me .

" Thanks sugar , just blab everything why don't you . "

Matt was chuckling " what did you do ?"

" She called him stupid , to his face in front of the police chief "

" He was being a pompous prat , he needed taking down a peg. I was right though , he was being stupid and I cracked the case " I finished by sticking my tongue at The Doctor.

"So how about you two, anything to tell us?" I asked Matt , wiggling my eyebrows .

" Well since it's so obvious, yes we are a couple. " Jess smiled .

" yes ! Oh the children will be so cute ." The Doctor was bouncing in his chair .

" hey, slow down there buddy , we only just started going out " Matt spluttered .

" Ha , wanna bet , we've seen the future remember . And yes the kids are adorable " I teased.

Everything was feeling much more relaxed , I know we had stuff to deal with but for tonight it was nice to just chill . We did dishes and went up to our room to get ready for bed , it would be nice to be in our own bed . I think the past couple of weeks have taken their toll , I'm feeling really worn out . We hopped into bed and snuggled up .

" Tomorrow we will go see the OOD , then once we have all the information the rest of the visit can be pure relaxing and fun , ok?"

" sounds good to me " I replied while running my fingers along his collarbone .

Just the mention of the OOD had left me feeling a little queasy.
