Extinguishing Spells
Cedric Diggory knew he wasn't going to take this mission lightly. It was everything or nothing for him.
He wanted Maeve and Fred back together more than anyone else because he was exhausted from hearing Fred mope around and watching him be upset.
Possibly, helping Willow and impressing her with his repairing skills had something to do with this also. Maybe.
"Kinderson!" Cedric yelled as he saw the familiar brunette as she walked out with another Slytherin, he knew she'd be leaving the courtyard about now.
Maeve turned around swiftly at the call of her name with a smile, Cedric felt disappointed as it fell when she looked at him.
"How are you doing, Maeve?" He jogged up to her, trying to keep up his optimism, and knowing he couldn't mess this up.
"Hi Cedric, I'm alright. You?" She responded as she began to walk, allowing Cedric to follow her.
She had to know what was going on, girls always knew the second the plan formed, even miles away.
"I'm okay, I was wondering if we could have a chat?" Her body language and clenched jaw made it seem as if she'd say no and run away, but she didn't.
She stopped in her tracks and looked up at him, scanning his facial expression like she'd never looked at him before.
"Fine." She hissed, leading them somewhere where they couldn't be heard as loud, guess the middle of the breezeway wasn't a good place to discuss relationships.
Cedric followed behind like a happy puppy, rehearsing the speech he had been preparing in his head. He could do this, he could fix it all.
"So," He said with a reassuring smile. "I'm sure you know why I'm here."
"Yes, I wasn't born yesterday. Get on with your case, Diggory. I don't have all day." She gestured her hand in a hurry-up position, suggesting he hurry up.
"Okay, okay." The speech had disappeared from his mind now, everything was suddenly blank. "Well."
"Today, Diggory!" She snapped, furrowing her eyebrows in frustration.
"Yes, today. Well, I just think," Why was he so nervous suddenly? "I think you should give Fred another chance. He's stupid and doesn't always think Maeve. On top of that, it was a misunderstanding."
