The Yule Ball And All It's Glory

As she walked towards the uninviting punch table, only because the people around it appeared much happier than her, she could hear Draco scolding Miles Bletchley for talking to her in that way.

Willow didn't take it personally because she didn't care for the boy but Draco took it straight to the heart. Growing up the way they did, their father spoke down on their mother every chance he got.

The two siblings wouldn't know a true love story if it hit them directly in the face, love wouldn't be in their dictionaries if it weren't for their mother.

Willow couldn't help but smirk at the sight of her brother cursing out Miles as she walked to the punch bowl, making up false sentences in her head as she carried along.

The reality of the situation began to soak into her skin as she found herself completely alone in a room full of people. Once again, she was unattended with her own thoughts.

Maeve and Anita were still on the dance floor, smiling and laughing as they all goofed around together. She wondered how it was easy for them to carry on with their day and if they had even thought of how'd she feel.

She found herself thinking of how they slept at night, how they were living through it all because Willow found herself barely scraping by.

Maybe, they didn't care as much as she did. After all, Maeve was the one who came at her, though Willow could recognize it to be her own fault. The tension made her feel as if she meant nothing to them at all.

As she approached the refreshment table, eyeing all the snacks they had laid out for them, also remembering she skipped lunch, she realized she wasn't going to get a drink for Miles.

If anything, she'd just stand here and wait for the time to pass on. She made eye contact with a few students she knew, and a few students from the other schools, giving them as sweet of a smile as she could.

The seconds became lonelier as she pretended to eye the treats, walking as slowly as she could. She didn't feel like she was bothering anyone, so she lingered.

She lingered until she was interrupted by a clearing of a throat. Her mind told her that her imagination made up the sound until she looked up at the sound of her name.

"Willow?" Cedric said softly, holding a white cup of punch in his hand. His voice was gentler than she had ever heard and he looked more handsome than ever before.

Not that he wasn't handsome, that wasn't a secret, but he looked like a movie star. His hair was fluffed out and his tux was fitted nicely around his body.
