Daddy Dearest
"Willow? Is that you?" The tall figure began to walk closer than before as it revealed the face behind the voice.
At this moment, Willow realized the stupid decisions she had made, the cold air was beginning to pierce her skin and the little yellow dress she wore wasn't exactly a nice winter jacket.
"It's me, Cedric." She mumbled, crossing her arms across her chest, attempting to gather some sort of warmth.
The universe was on her side since the darkness hid her red cheeks and wet eyes, as well as her expression of regret and embarrassment.
She couldn't help it, she couldn't help but feel like he wasn't telling the truth about Cho and him. Every time she saw them, they looked a lot more friendly than she did with her friends.
"Oh, darling. You're shaking like a leaf." He laughed back at her, wrapping his jacket around her shoulders. She thanked him quietly, it was better than nothing. "You look beautiful, by the way."
She mumbled some sort of thank you as her cheeks burned against the dark sky. She usually loved the praise from him, but she seemed to be stuck in her own self-pity.
"Are you okay? Why did you leave?" He asked in his gentle and caring voice, sitting beside her on the cold ground.
Willow looked at her shoes, thinking of things to say. She'd sound stupid and obnoxious if she told him the real reason but by now, he could see through all her bullshit.
She wanted to be an understanding and cool girl who didn't care, but she wasn't, and that might never change. She may never change.
And if she were to tell him her truth, would he be annoyed? Would this be the last straw in her cup of bullshit feelings?
"I just," She let out a large breath of air, watching as the white faded away. "Needed some fresh air. It was getting pretty hot in there."
A lie, somewhat, of course. Protect yourself from heartbreak until you can't. Leave before they leave you. All the rules she reminded herself.
"Oh, okay. It is quite crazy in there." He matched her tone, allowing the silence to fall upon them. Neither of them was used to the quiet when it came to each other, but here they were.
Cedric was playing it better off than he thought and for some reason, Willow must've thought he was an idiot. He knew something was wrong and she didn't want to spit it out. But, he'd wait till she was ready.
