Chapter Thirty-Eight

Dear Mom,

It's been so long I'm not even sure where to begin.

Well, I made it. I survived. Crazy, I know.

I didn't realize how dangerous everything truly was until I lived through it all.

You were right to think that this was too dangerous for me, and I am sorry I argued with you so much about it.

But, I can say that I did it. I survived this long, and if I were to tell you everything I'm sure you would have a heart attack.

I bonded with a dragon on choosing day. She's the queen of dragons. She's gold during the day and at night she turns a matte black, almost invisible. Her name is Constance.

I got my power. I have the ability to control air. Doesn't sound cool, I know, but trust me it is. I'm able to move anyone by shoving my hand at them. I can create air shields that are impossible to break through. I could even make air daggers that do the same damage as normal daggers. I also can pull all the air out of someones lungs.

Training has been going okay, we're suppose to start on actual daggers and swords soon. Our main goal was to learn combat and to learn to stay on our dragons. We also learned how to get on and off our dragons while still in the air. Constance made sure I learned that part, she told me her last rider didn't make the jump so she insisted I get that part down.

We run the field everyday after training, if I told you that was the worst part would you believe me? We have to run that entire field behind the castle TEN times before were allowed to go eat dinner. In the beginning we were just making it back to grab food quickly. But we've all gotten better and even started our own obstacle course to challenge ourselves.

I'm sure you heard about the attack on the castle. I'm okay but I do have a story to tell you about that when I see you.

Sam and I are in the same squad, so we've been together this whole time. Sam has the ability to heal plants and create them with just her finger tips. You should see her when she's mad, she'll pull vines right from the earth and wrap them around someone. She's still super protective of me, and isn't afraid of anyone.

Sam also has a boyfriend! He's the sweetest. We call him Lucky but his name is Caleb. They're soulmates.

Yes, soulmates.

Something no one talks about, once you're bonded with a dragon you're able to feel a soulmate bond, like we've seen in movies, well its real.

I also might've found my soulmate.

Now, before you roll your eyes at me, and think I just have a crush... It's real. The soulmate bond is so strong there's no ignoring it even if I wanted to. And trust me, I wanted to.

But my soulmate is the Prince. Well, he's king now, but that's a long story I can fill you in when I see you.

But since he's king now, and I'm with him, everyone here knows me as the Queen.

I wanted to tell you this next part in person but since I'm not quite sure when I'm going to be seeing you,

Xander and I are planning on getting married. There's no date yet, but when there is you'll be the first to know. 

I hope you're proud of me. I also hope this letter doesn't give you a heart attack.  I really miss you.
