As I took my makeup off in the bathroom, I was still reeling from the events from earlier in the day. What was supposed to be me quitting my job with Apollo ended up being one of the most incredible things to happen to me in my life. I was smiling when I walked into my bedroom, then I jumped when I saw Nick sitting on the bed, looking very angry. "Hey. You're home."

"Yea. Long day on the set. Good thing I didn't have any visitors." He said, looking at me with a severe expression.

I wrinkled my forehead, then I remembered & gasped as I covered my mouth. "Oh my God. I totally forgot I was supposed to go to the set today. Oh baby... I'm so sorry." I walked toward him & he got up, looking more angry than he should look. "You can't be that mad... Nick... I got caught up & forgot. It was like a last minute thing so I didn't have it on my brain for very long."

"You got side tracked by Apollo." He spit out at me as he turned to face me. "What happened? You tried to quit & he turned on the charm & got you into bed instead?"

I clicked my tongue & scowled at Nick, shocked & appaled by what he said. "Are you joking? Is that what you think happened?"

Nick shrugged. "What happened then that made you forget about meeting me.... you know... your husband!"

"It was something huge.... but I can't tell you everything. He opened up to me...."

Nick got up & took a sudden step toward me, so his face was an inch or so from me, cutting me off. Scaring me, actually. "I heard you say, 'I love you.'" Nick said in a disgusted tone.

"What? When?"

"Before you hung up the phone, I heard you say you love him." Nick was speaking through clenched teeth & I wasn't sure I'd ever seen him this mad at me.

"I wasn't talking to Apollo." I chuckled, looking away, knowing I couldn't look him in the eye.

"I went through your log on your phone."

"Wow. You're going through my phone now. How nice. Love the trust you have."

He started smiling, almost sadistically. "I heard you tell someone you love them on the phone. After you stood me up today, so excuse me for being a little curious as to who you were professing your love to."

I sighed, throwing my head back, knowing I couldn't get out of not telling Nick the truth, now. "Listen. Please, can you sit down & calm yourself? I will explain to you everything but you can not tell a single soul."

Nick sighed, angrily & crossed his arms, defiantly. "What the fuck is so secretive?"

"If you sit down & promise not to tell, I will explain." I sat on the bed & motioned with my head to the space beside me. He uncrossed his arms looking annoyed & sighed, deeply, before he sat down beside me.

"I promise I won't tell anyone." He muttered, looking down at his hands. He turned to sit on the bed, facing me & I turned so I was facing him.

I took a deep breath & smiled. "First of all, I did go there with every intention of quitting, but then he was like you said... he was apologetic & begging me not to quit, telling me what he told you. That he has never felt a connection with anyone like he felt with me & he has never felt like he could trust someone but he trusts me. He told me he wanted to explain why he has this wall up around him & why he doesn't let people see his vulnerable side or why he pretends to be this hard ass. Why he doesn't let girls get inside his heart. And he did apologize for kissing me & assured me it wouldn't happen again." Nick rolled his eyes, giving me a look like he didn't believe that. "It won't happen again, baby. Trust me." I laughed & Nick looked annoyed. "Okay, so anyway... he proceeded to tell me about his childhood & he was in foster homes from the time he was three until he was in high school, which is when the Johanson family adopted him. They were the first family that really showed him love. He started telling me how he never felt love in all the foster homes except he remembered these two girls when he was like five that were sisters & they loved him. Treated him like their brother... protected him... and he was in that home for the longest of any, which was almost a year. So I got this feeling when he told me that & I asked him if he went by Apollo when he was little & he said he used to be called AJ, since his middle name is Jerome. Well... I was shocked... then it hit me that me & Jules were the two girls who were like his sisters... we were in the same foster home with him for nearly a year. I was like 7 or 8 & him & Jules were 5 or 6."
