I signed the papers that Demi's doctor had slipped toward me at the table, then when he stood up, I hung my head, wondering if I had done the right thing. As the doctor walked toward the door, I cleared my throat. "Dr. Wilson?" I said as he got to the door & he turned to look at me, waiting for me to say more. "Is it okay if I'm the one to tell her what's going to happen?"

Dr. Wilson nodded his head, sympathetically, watching me as I stood up & walked toward him. Once I was by his side, he put his hand on my shoulder. "She's going to be okay. I have a lot of friends that work on that floor & they are all really really good at what they do. She's going to be in excellent hands on that floor."

"Will I be able to visit her?"

"You won't be able to visit her for the first three days, during the evaluation period, but then if the doctors think she'll be okay having visitors, after the third day, they'll let you know & you can come see her. That is if they decide she needs to stay longer than the evaluation period. Children, though, they don't allow them on the psychiatric floor." Dr. Wilson held his arm out toward the hallway, letting me know he'd follow me.

I made my way to Demi's room, Dr. Wilson walking with me. Before I went in, I took a deep breath, then glanced at Joe who was still here, which I was grateful for. When I went into the room, Demi was sitting up, just finishing her lunch & she smiled when she saw me. Her smile faded, a little, when she saw Dr. Wilson walk in behind me. I walked to stand beside the bed & squeezed Demi's hand. "Dr. Wilson wants to move you to another floor, for a few days, so they can help you better." I said as I watched her face, closely. She looked confused, then pushed her tray of food away. "They want to evaluate you & get you on some medications that are safe for the baby. Remember we talked about the postpartum depression earlier?" I asked & she nodded, looking like a scared little girl. "They want to get you help for it, so you can come home & be with your family. That's all. Do you think it will be okay if they take you to another floor so the doctors, that specialize in that sort of thing, can help you?"

"I guess." Demi's lip quivered & tears filled her eyes. "Are you coming with me?"

"Baby, I can't come with you. I need to take care of Reese."

"They're going to tell me I can't be around my kids aren't they? You're going to leave me, aren't you?" Demi's voice was alarmed as she sat up straight.

I shook my head, quickly. "No, baby. I'm not leaving you. No one is going to take our kids from us. I would never let that happen. Joe would never let that happen." I glanced over at Joe, who stepped forward.

"Right. Demi, you're an amazing mother & I want you to be healthy for Damon. So, go get help so Damon can come visit you." Joe put his hand on Demi's shoulder & winked at her.

Demi swallowed then looked at me as she nodded her head. "Okay, I'll go to the other floor. You're going to visit me later, though, right?"

I cleared my throat & sighed. "Well, they have to evaluate you for a few days first & try out different medications, but then after that I should be able to visit." I looked over at Dr. Wilson, who nodded, stepping forward.

"Sure. Of course." He agreed, looking at Demi.

"I'm going to miss you." Demi looked down at our hands as they laid on her lap.

"Not more than I'm going to miss you." I choked out. Demi looked up & let go of my hand, a soft smile forming on her lips.

Dr. Wilson cleared his throat as I noticed a few men had arrived to take Demi upstairs. I stood up & took a breath, trying not to let her see how upset & scared I was. I smiled down at Demi, as I leaned to kiss her & she placed her hand on my cheek, making me want to kiss her longer. I pulled away, reluctantly & brushed her cheek with the back of my fingers. I felt a shaky smile on my mouth, but Demi beat me to the words. "I love you." She said, just above a whisper.
