The ride to the hospital was a blur, since I was so worried about Demi & our son. I was trying not to show Demi how worried I was, but she knew. I was relieved when we got to the hospital & they took Demi right up to the labor & delivery floor. I tried to stay out of the way, but tried to stay close to Demi so she knew I was there. I kept telling her, "Everything is okay, baby. You're doing great."
Once Demi was hooked up to monitors, the doctor came in to check things. "You're definitely in labor, Demi. Your cervix is dilated 1 centimeter. I'm going to give you something that may stop labor & we'll see if we can keep your son in there a little longer."
"Is he okay? What if the labor doesn't stop? Will he be okay if he's born now?" Demi nearly shouted her questions at the doctor.
Dr. Riley gave Demi a sympathetic smile. "Calm down. Babies are usually just fine, with very little complications, when they're born at 36 weeks. So please don't worry. I'm going to do an ultrasound to make sure he's okay."
Demi nodded, then relaxed, in the bed, turning on her side to face me. Dr. Riley left, leaving me & Demi alone. When her eyes met mine, she had a thoughtful expression take over her face. "What? What's wrong? What's that look for?"

"I shouldn't have had sex with you." I said, letting out a breath as I sat on the stool next to her bed.
Demi rolled her eyes & sighed, impatiently. "That didn't make me go into labor."
"Oh really? Well, sex is a recommended way to bring on labor."
"Stop. I'm glad we had sex... it was amazing & we won't be able to for like two months."
I sighed, then looked at the floor.

I heard Demi gasp & when I looked up she was making a face, & grabbing her stomach, so I knew she was having a contraction. I jumped up & went to her side. "Breathe, baby. You're doing great." I encouraged, rubbing her back. The contractions came & went for a little while, until Dr. Riley came in & did an ultrasound. The baby looked fine, so he gave her something that would stop her labor, then left.
