Wonwoo sat at his desk, typing furiously as he worked to meet yet another tight deadline. Though he doesn't like it, he's used to his routine at the office. The only thing keeping him sane are his paycheck and the doing of his keyboard.

But today, the predictable rhythm was interrupted by the sound of laughter- a loud, cheerful laugh that he'd come to know all too well.

Lee Chan.

That Lee Chan that knows everyone and anyone. First to greet and say goodbye to their coworkers. It's like he never runs out of things to say or ask. He always has an answer for everything, as well.

Wonwoo doesn't know how he does it- probably the fact that he's on the younger side, but still.

He was talking with a group of people by the coffee machine, his voice filling the quiet and mundane office atmosphere. Wonwoo looked up from his computer in their direction, immediately regretting it as his neck got a cramp.

Wonwoo cracked his neck and sighed, returning his focus to his work. He wasn't annoyed, just intrigued. Chan was everything he wasn't- outgoing, energetic and always surrounded by people. He's bright like the sun shining through the windows of the building, while Wonwoo is like the curtains blocking out the sun from coming in. Despite himself, Wonwoo admired his energy, the way he made everything look easy.

Chan looked over and caught Wonwoo's eye. He shot him a grin and waved, his eyes sparkling with an invitation that Wonwoo could never seem to resist.

"Hey, Wonwoo! We're all going out for lunch today. You should come with us!" Chan's voice has always carried a warmth that made Wonwoo's heart stutter.

Wonwoo's instinct was to decline. He had a book waiting for him in the break room, and the thought of sitting around a noisy table made him a little uneasy. But Chan... His presence made him hesitate.

"I... I don't know, Chan. I've got a lot of work," he mumbled, feeling an odd disappointment at his own answer.

"Oh, come on," Chan flashes that smile that made Wonwoo's heart do flips. "The work will still be here when you get back. Sometimes you need a break to actually be productive, you know?"

There was a pause, a tension in the air that seemed to linger just between them. Wonwoo found himself nodding, unable to look away from Chan's eyes, like they've trapped him in a trance. "Alright, I'll go." He blurted out, surprising himself slightly.

Chan's face lit up with excitement. "Awesome! You won't regret it. We'll all have a great time- I promise."

At lunch, Wonwoo found himself seated between Chan and another co-worker- Minghao- their conversation flowing easily around him. He felt a bit out of place, but Chan's constant attention made him feel included. Every time he went silent, Chan would ask him something, gently drawing him out of his solitude. He felt seen, like maybe he belonged here more than he realized.

By the time they got back to the office, Wonwoo felt lighter. Chan nudged his shoulder as they walked back to their desks, smiling at him. "See? Not so bad, right?"

"No, not bad at all," Wonwoo replied, a small smile tugging at his lips. He felt an odd warmth in his chest, and he knew it had everything to do with the man beside him.

As the weeks passed, Wonwoo found himself spending more and more time with Chan. Lunches, coffee breaks, even the occasional after-hours drink with the team. His energy was contagious, and somehow, he'd become the highlight of Wonwoo's day. For someone who had once relished solitude, Wonwoo began to feel a strange emptiness on the days Chan wasn't around.

One evening, as they were both leaving the office, Chan looked over at him with a soft smile.

"Hey, Wonwoo," he began, sounding a bit more serious than usual. "I've been wanting to say something."

Wonwoo's heart raced, a mix of nerves and anticipation flooding his chest. "Yeah?"

Chan stepped closer, his gaze steady, honest. "I know we're different. You're quieter, and you're probably one of the most reserved people I know." He paused for a moment, looking down, which is unusual for him. "But I think that's why I like you. You've got this... calmness about you. And when I'm with you, I feel like I can just... be. You know?" He looked back up at Wonwoo, his eyes showing vulnerability that Wonwoo's never seen before.

Wonwoo's face flushed, his breath catching in his throat. He couldn't remember the last time someone had spoken to him like this, so openly, so sincerely. "Chan... I... I like being with you too," he managed, the words barely coming out.

A gentle smile spread across Chan's face, and he reached out, taking Wonwoo's hand in his own. "So, what do you say? Wanna hang out some time?"

Wonwoo nodded, his heart pounding. With Chan's hand in his, the world felt a little less daunting, a little more vibrant. He realized then that Chan had become his sunshine, the light he never knew he needed but now couldn't imagine being without.
