Kaizel
In his nightmare, he had no control of his body.
He stood like a bystander at the corner, watching the scene of him and his brother fucking the love of their life. He watched as they tore into her, pounded into her body so hard that blood dripped from her pussy and her skin was peppered with green and red. They violated her until the tears that streamed down her cheeks stopped, and her screams became muted from the pain.
Kaizel had screamed, he tried desperately to stop himself, tried to re-enter his body. But when he finally succeeded, desperately pulling out of her body, she was long dead. Her skin a ghastly blue and her eyes were wide and unseeing. Kaizel had gone mad from the sight, he fought his brother, tearing his limbs and breaking the bones of the fellow criminal who had caused her death. They both died from blood loss.
It was a horrible dream that felt so real that he had woken up crying hysterically, his body heaving with his tears. He was confused, so certain that he should be back in the cave chained to the wall that he panicked. The horror that blossomed in his chest only got worse when he saw her snuggled in his arms with his sleeping brother by her side.
Was she dead? His eyes darted about madly over her features. He started to pant, his breath ragged as he held her and he began to scream. She awoke, sitting up to press kisses to his lips as he sobbed and panicked. He clung to her desperate for the evidence that she was alive and well, whimpering as he stroked her cheeks.
"I'm okay," she whispered, stroking his hair. "I'm fine, totally okay. See?" She drew his head to her chest and he listened to her heartbeat, pounding loud and clear in his ears. "I'm fine. I'm alive." He fell back to sleep to the sound of her heart and the sweet, soothing hum of her voice.
When he awoke again, it was to the sound of her voice as she read. "Nausea, changes in taste and preference, a metallic taste in your mouth." She gave a low hum. "Hmmm, I can't remember if that happened. Oh, I'm definitely tired." The sound of her voice was pleasant in his ears and he dozed to it. He lazily glanced at his brother with his eye and noted that Keegan was wide awake too, rubbing the sleep from his eye.
What happened? He exchanged a glance with his brother and Keegan frowned.
I think our parents helped us out. I remember father.
Kaizel did remember his father and the way his power had washed over his skin, helping him to pull in the soul fire. The soul fire was now a constant, controlled roar of heat. Not an inferno that had consumed all in its wake, but a bonfire that ate at only what Kaizel would give it. He twisted his body, noting the lack of wounds to his back although the soreness was there. It would take a while for him to fly again, but he was sure he could.
"You're awake!" Eden gasped, and Kaizel turned back to look at her, watching as she placed the book down to stroke his hair. "Oh, Keegan too."
"It's a twin thing," Keegan croaked out, his soft dulcet voice was rough like sandpaper and Kaizel winced. That was not sexy at all. He swallowed, noting the ache in his throat. Fuck. He screamed too much.
"No, Keegan just moves too fucking much when he wakes," Kaizel rasped out, his voice a whisper of words. He watched as Eden conjured two glasses of water, waving her fingers to conjure two dollops of honey and droplets of lemon into each glass. She had magic. He stared at her, blinking in confusion. Then he noted the soft glow of her skin. She was a goddess!
"Did mother get you the Peach?" Keegan asked after a quick sip from his glass, cutting to the chase. "The council was so angry about it, did she steal it?"
"Your father stole it," she replied, giggling a little and Kaizel's heart backflipped at the sound. "Your uncle wasn't too happy about it—"
"Did he hurt you?" Kaizel snarled, bristling at the thought and he sat up, moving to stand only to wince at the pain. Fucking hell!
"No, no. Sit back down!" She snapped, glaring at him fiercely. "You've yet to fully recover. There's still some of the poison in your system—"
"I don't care, I'll rip him to shreds if he—"
"Kaizel."
"Whatever you want love," he smiled impishly at her and he sat back for her, inside he was seething at the thought of her facing the council alone.
She shook her head, and then she burst into tears. The twins froze, eyes widening at the sight and they moved to sit up, but she waved a hand at them. Her magic was surprisingly more powerful than he had expected for it held him down, tying him to the bed.
"No, it's just I can't believe the two of you didn't tell me!" She sobbed into her hand and Kaizel wrestled with her magic, desperate to calm her tears. "Why didn't you explain your situation? It might have been too late if I came back a little later."
"Please don't cry Eden." Keegan sighed, his voice rough with his unshed tears. "Please, we only wanted you safe."
"Yeah? Well, fuck your motherfucking safety!" She snapped, her floral scent drenched in cayenne pepper. Kaizel was alarmed at the switch, pursing his lips together in confusion. "You two are fucking assholes for not being clear about everything! I couldn't see shit! Couldn't you have boasted a bit about all your sacrifices for me?"
"Uh." Kaizel was sweating at her anger, and she glared furiously at him, her eyes flashing gold and silver, slits forming at the centre. Shit. She was fucking pissed. "We didn't want you to see our pain, you would have been worried for us."
"And we didn't have the confidence that we could triumph the soul fire, we didn't think our family would come to help us..." Keegan supplemented his reply. His twin sighed, biting his lips. "We wanted you healthy and alive. Not dead, by our hands, please you have to understand—"
"Well, you know what? Newsflash!" She growled, inching up to them on the bed and Kaizel gulped nervously. "I would have returned, I would have returned and once I find the two of you dead...I—" And then she started to cry, plopping down onto her ass to sob into her palms. The magic must have weakened because Kaizel pushed himself up, holding her hand and stroking her cheeks.
She hiccupped, her eyes red and swollen from the tears, heavy with eye bags that Kaizel hated on her skin. "I wouldn't have wanted to live."
"Don't say that," Kaizel begged. "You can't please." She should never.
"Oh yeah? Well, what did you think it felt like to see your soulmates tortured and dying at your feet!" She glared at him through her tears, nose scrunched up adorably. "It felt like fucking shit! I wanted to fucking die!"
"You shouldn't have," Keegan whispered. "You shouldn't have, we violated you."
