As Connor clicked his knuckles, the sound of popping grated on both Stiles and Theo. Theo narrowed his eyes. "Can you stop that?" he asked, irritation clear in his voice.

Connor huffed and gestured between them. "You know, I've had more fun third-wheeling Danny and Ethan than I have with you guys."

Stiles spun around in his seat, placing a hand dramatically on his chest as if wounded. "Connor-" he started, mock-offended.

Rolling his eyes, Connor pressed his hand to Theo, motioning for him to get up. "Can you get up?"

"Why?" Theo asked, clearly doubtful that Connor's reason would be anything worth moving for. He knew Connor's antics by now.

"I wanna go smoke," Connor replied, as if that was the most reasonable request in the world.

Stiles let out a sigh. "Connor, for your safety, especially, you gotta stay in the car."

Connor slumped down in his seat like a moody teenager. "Just roll down the window," Stiles continued.

With a dramatic flair, Connor rolled down the window, lighting his cigarette and blowing smoke in clouds toward the back of the car. He turned away from the others as he puffed, with an exaggeration.

Meanwhile, Theo glanced at Stiles, his voice low and a little too smooth. "You still wondering why I haven't said anything to Scott?"

Stiles shrugged, eyes never leaving the road ahead. "Maybe."

Connor, now distracted by the distant sound of a police siren, completely abandoned his assigned task of watching the laptop screen. His one job for the night, and already, he was failing spectacularly.

"You think I have some kind of ulterior motive?" Theo asked, leaning slightly toward Stiles.

"More than likely," Stiles responded without hesitation.

Theo pressed on, trying his best to seem genuine. "Would you believe me if I said all I want all I've ever wanted is for you guys to trust me?"

Stiles didn't even blink. "Nope."

"So, you're here because you're never going to trust me."

"Yep." Stiles finally turned to lock eyes with Theo, giving him a sharp look. "Glad we had this talk."

Theo sighed and glanced back at Connor through the rear-view mirror. "You know who you remind me of?" he said, shifting the topic.

Stiles groaned, already tired of the conversation. "Theo, I don't care."
