After experiencing those magic sparks on Friday and feeling that fascinating connection, waiting for the weekend to pass was a slow, excruciating task. It felt like time itself was mocking me. I had no idea that two days could feel like an eternity.

Of course, we set up camp in the woods outside her place. We could not leave even if we wanted to.

I was restless, and Zeus paced anxiously, barely able to stand even a few feet away from her.

It did not matter if she was not visible. We knew she was tucked inside like a bear that had gone into hibernation, and that was enough to keep us tied to the trees outside. But the forest was no sanctuary. It only worsened my cravings for her.

Every rustle of the leaves or shift in the house made my skin prickle. We felt her presence pulling at us like a magnet. It was as if she was just out of reach—so close but still untouchable. Yet, she stayed hidden away as though she knew we were there. The waiting only fed the hunger inside me, and Zeus, who was usually more controlled, was growing dangerous. He wanted that incredible feeling again.

The more Zeus and I waited, the more the bond grew unbearable.

"Why won't she come out?" Zeus whined, pacing.

"Patience," I muttered through clenched teeth, though I had none.

The weekend was painful, but I lied to myself that it would be worth it once I saw her again. All this waiting, this madness coursing through me, would settle when I felt her presence. Deep down, I knew the truth. The bond would only grow stronger and more painful the longer I stayed away from her.

Monday could not come fast enough, and I smiled when the sun rose. I felt her presence pulsing through the bond. Mia was awake.

"Finally!!" Zeus and I said in unison.

"Right, get moving, Zeus. We can head back to the penthouse now to get ready."

He took off running further into the forest.

"And for the love of the Moon Goddess, do NOT rush me with your anxieties. I want to make a good impression this time. We know exactly when Mia gets to school, and there is no need to get there an hour before."

When we found her sitting alone at the last picnic table, it felt like the world's weight lifted off my chest. For a moment, everything else blurred—the noise of the students enjoying the sun, the buzz of conversation—it all faded.

There was only her—our mate. The way the sunlight played off her hair, the delicate angle of her jaw, and the calmness she carried, unaware of the storm brewing inside me—was maddening. She sat there, unaware of the fire she stoked in my chest whenever I looked at her.

She did not see me coming, but I could already feel her presence like a magnetic pull. I hovered over her, my brooding shoulders casting a shadow blocking the sun.
