"What are you doing? You woke me from my peaceful sleep

"What are you doing? You woke me from my peaceful sleep. Pal, last night was amazing. I can't wait to mate her without that thing between us." Zeus' voice was lighter than I had ever heard, filled with contentment.

"Buying us a ticket. We need to fly out." My fingers tapped in my credit card details quickly. The sooner this was done, the sooner I could be back beside Mia.

"About time! We should've gone home ages ago. Have you bought a ticket for our little one, too? I want to show her our land," Zeus said, pride swelling in his chest.

"We aren't going home, Zeus. We're heading to Scotland. Mia needs protection if we'll pick a fight with the council and my father. Alpha Maximus is the strongest Alpha in history, leading the largest pack. I'll plead our case to him."

"What? Are we leaving without her? You must be joking. She won't last a single night without us," Zeus protested.

I sighed, knowing he was right but firm in my decision. "I know, Zeus, and whose fault is that? Who encouraged her to bite your thumb? That was too much for one weekend."

He rolled his eyes, dismissing my reproach. "Then we should take our mate with us, Alex. Wherever we go."

"We can't, Zeus. Mia isn't officially our Luna, not to mention she's human. We must talk to Alpha Maximus first and lay everything out before involving her." I paused, feeling the weight of the truth I had been hiding from her. "Mia's in love with us. The bond runs deep, binding her in ways she can't understand yet. This weekend brought things too far, too fast."

I ran a hand through my hair, unhappy that things got out of control. "For God's sake, I let you mate her, Zeus." I closed my eyes, picturing her reaction once she knew. "Imagine what she'll feel when she wakes up with a thousand questions we can't answer yet."

Zeus muttered begrudging agreement. "Fine, but I'm not pleased about leaving her behind."

"There's no other choice, Zeus," I said, rolling my eyes.

I returned to bed, gathering Mia into my arms. Holding her close, I breathed in her scent, feeling a sense of peace yet knowing we would soon be worlds apart. Her warmth against me stirred a mix of satisfaction and dread.

When Mia opened her big brown eyes, the sun cast a warm light inside the room, pushing away the coldness of Autumn. I did not have much time to explain things properly. My flight was leaving soon.

"Hey, sleepyhead," I said, trying to sound casual.

"Hey," she replied, her voice groggy but affectionate.

I brushed a gentle hand along her cheek, savouring the simple intimacy of the moment.

"I'm sorry, love. I must fly to Europe."
