Chapter - 19 Memory of the night!
As Yoongi and Jimin sat in the quiet hospital room, holding hands and finally beginning to mend the rift between them, the door creaked open. Both of them turned their heads to see a doctor walking in, a clipboard in hand. The doctor offered a gentle smile, glancing at Jimin and then at Yoongi.
“How are you feeling, Mr. Park?” the doctor asked, moving closer to the bed to check Jimin’s vitals.
“I’m okay, just a little tired,” Jimin replied softly, casting a quick glance at Yoongi, who was still holding his hand.
The doctor nodded and scribbled something down on his clipboard. “That’s understandable. You had quite the ordeal last night. It’s a good thing you were brought in when you were. Your body was extremely weak, and your vitals were low.”
Yoongi frowned, his eyes narrowing in concern. “What exactly happened to him, doctor? Why was he so weak?”
The doctor looked at Yoongi and then back at Jimin, who seemed to shrink under the scrutiny. “Well, it seems that Jimin hadn’t eaten anything for a considerable amount of time. His body was running on empty, and combined with the stress and exposure to the cold rain, he fainted from sheer exhaustion and weakness.”
Yoongi’s frown deepened as he turned his gaze to Jimin, who immediately lowered his head, unable to meet Yoongi’s eyes. The guilt that Yoongi felt earlier intensified; he hadn’t realized how much Jimin had neglected himself the day before, and it made him feel responsible.
The doctor continued, “We’ve given him fluids and he’s stable now, but he needs to take it easy for the next couple of days. Make sure he eats regular meals and gets plenty of rest.”
“Thank you, doctor,” Yoongi replied, his voice tight with worry. The doctor nodded, offering a reassuring smile before leaving the room.
As soon as the door clicked shut, Yoongi turned back to Jimin, who was still staring down at his hands. “Jimin,” Yoongi’s voice was stern but laced with concern. “Why didn’t you eat anything?”
Jimin hesitated, biting his lower lip as he tried to find the right words. When he finally spoke, his voice was soft and a bit sheepish. “Well… yesterday, we were searching for the pen drive all day, and neither of us had lunch. I was so focused on helping you that I didn’t even think about eating.”
Yoongi’s gaze softened slightly, but his worry remained. “And after that? You went home. Why didn’t you eat then?”
Jimin glanced up briefly, only to look away again, his cheeks tinged with a hint of pink. “When I got home, I was too excited about coming over to see you. I thought… I thought I’d have dinner with you or something, but then…” He trailed off, the memory of the night before causing his voice to falter.
Yoongi’s heart clenched as he realized how much Jimin had gone through for him. He had been so caught up in his own emotions and confusion that he hadn’t even considered that Jimin might have been neglecting himself. And when Jimin had come to his apartment, Yoongi hadn’t thought to offer him anything to eat, even after their intense conversation and the emotional turmoil that followed.
Jimin, noticing Yoongi’s silence, looked up cautiously. “I didn’t mean to worry you, Yoongi. I just… I wanted to help you find the pen drive and be there for you. I guess I wasn’t really thinking about myself.”
Yoongi sighed, his frustration with himself evident in his expression. He looked at Jimin, who was now pouting slightly, a mix of embarrassment and apology in his eyes. That pout, combined with the way Jimin looked so innocent and earnest, made Yoongi’s heart skip a beat.
