Chapter - 22 Overworking?
Hours passed in a blur as Jimin worked, his focus narrowing to the task at hand. The project was almost done, but the weight of everything else still lingered in the back of his mind. His heart ached with a longing he couldn’t shake, and no matter how much he tried to ignore it, the thought of Yoongi kept creeping back in.
Just as he was nearing the finish line, there was a knock on his door. Jimin glanced up, startled. He hadn’t been expecting anyone. He quickly saved his work before getting up to answer the door, his mind racing with who it could be.
When he opened the door, he was greeted by the familiar, smiling face of Taehyung. “Jimin-ah!” Taehyung exclaimed, his eyes bright with concern. “I came to check on you. You didn’t respond to my messages earlier, and I got worried.”
“Tae…” Jimin’s voice wavered as he stepped aside to let his friend in. “I’m sorry. I’ve just been really busy. Come in.”
Taehyung walked into the apartment, taking in the sight of Jimin’s workspace and the tired expression on his friend’s face. “Busy? Or overwhelmed?” he asked gently, his tone full of understanding.
Jimin sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Both, I guess. I’ve been working on this project, and I almost missed the deadline because… well, a lot happened today.”
Taehyung raised an eyebrow, sensing there was more to the story. “What do you mean? You look like you’ve been through the wringer.”
Jimin hesitated, unsure of how much he wanted to share. But the concern in Taehyung’s eyes made him feel safe, like he could open up without judgment. “I… I had a fight with Yoongi-hyung,” he admitted quietly. “It was really bad, and I don’t know what to do.”
Taehyung’s expression softened, and he reached out to place a comforting hand on Jimin’s shoulder. “Tell me what happened.”
Jimin took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the day’s events pressing down on him. “We went out for lunch, and everything was fine at first. But then we saw J-Hope, and I got excited because he’s my idol. But Yoongi-hyung… he got really upset and told me not to get involved with celebrities. He said they were bad, but I didn’t understand why. I tried to explain how much I admired J-Hope, but he got angry and left me alone in the restaurant.”
Taehyung listened intently, his heart aching for his friend. “That sounds really tough, Jimin. I’m sorry you had to go through that. But there's a chance of him get jealous.”
Jimin nodded, his voice trembling slightly as he continued. “I don’t know what I did wrong, Tae. I just wanted to share something that made me happy, but it only made him upset. Now he’s gone, and I haven’t heard from him since.”
Taehyung sighed, pulling Jimin into a comforting hug. “Yoongi-hyung has always been complicated, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t care about you. Maybe he’s dealing with something that he hasn’t shared with you yet.”
Jimin leaned into the hug, feeling a small measure of comfort from Taehyung’s words. “I just wish he would talk to me instead of shutting me out.”
“I know,” Taehyung said softly. “But sometimes people need time to work through their own issues. Give him some space, and when he’s ready, he’ll come back to you. In the meantime, you have to take care of yourself, okay?”
Before Jimin could respond, there was another knock at the door. Jimin pulled away from Taehyung, a bit surprised by the interruption. “Who could that be?”
Taehyung shrugged as Jimin went to open the door. This time, it was Jungkook standing there, holding a bag of groceries and grinning widely. “Hey, hyung! I heard you’ve been working hard, so I thought I’d bring dinner.”
Jimin felt a wave of warmth wash over him at the sight of Jungkook’s cheerful face. “Kookie, you didn’t have to do that…”
“Nonsense,” Jungkook said, stepping inside and holding up the bag. “I figured you could use some good food and good company. Plus, Tae-hyung told me you were having a rough day, so I’m here to help cheer you up.”
Jimin couldn’t help but smile, feeling grateful for his friends’ support. “Thank you, both of you. I really needed this.”
Jungkook set the groceries down on the kitchen counter and started unpacking them. “I’m going to cook something special. You two just sit back and relax.”
Jimin and Taehyung exchanged amused glances as Jungkook busied himself in the kitchen. The scent of food soon filled the apartment, and the atmosphere became lighter, more relaxed. The three of them chatted about random things, catching up on each other’s lives, and for a little while, Jimin managed to push his worries about Yoongi to the back of his mind.
As they sat down to eat, Jungkook served up a delicious meal, and the conversation flowed easily. They laughed and joked, the mood lifting with each passing moment. But even amidst the laughter, Jimin couldn’t shake the feeling of something missing. No matter how much he tried to distract himself, his thoughts kept drifting back to Yoongi.
Jimin picked at his food, trying to focus on the present, but Taehyung noticed the distant look in his eyes. “Jimin-ah, are you okay?”
Jimin looked up, startled out of his thoughts. “Yeah, I’m fine. Just… thinking.”
“About Yoongi-hyung?” Jungkook guessed, his tone gentle.
Jimin sighed, setting down his chopsticks. “Yeah. I know I should be enjoying this, and I am, but I can’t stop thinking about him. I miss him, even though he’s the one who left me.”
Jungkook reached across the table and placed a comforting hand on Jimin’s. “It’s okay to miss him, hyung. You care about him, and it’s natural to feel that way. But you have to trust that things will work out.”
Taehyung nodded in agreement. “You’re not alone, Jimin. We’re here.."
Taehyung hugged Jimin and Jungkook also joined them both...
