Chapter - 20 He is my Idol.

The next day dawned with the sun shining brightly, casting warm rays that filtered through the curtains of Yoongi’s apartment. He stood by the window, lost in thought, his coffee growing cold in his hand. The events of the past few days had left him feeling both closer to and more confused about Jimin than ever before.

He glanced over at the clock and sighed. He had promised Jimin they would go out for lunch today—something normal, something that didn’t involve hospitals or heavy rain. But despite his attempts to calm the storm in his mind, the doubts kept gnawing at him.

“Why am I doing this?” Yoongi whispered to himself, his fingers tightening around the coffee mug. “Am I really over what happened? Or am I just trying to fill a void that happens? Is it fair to Jimin? Am I doing this just out of guilt?”

He knew he cared for Jimin—how could he not after everything? But the lingering shadow of his first love still cast a long, dark shadow over his heart. The pain, the betrayal, the self-doubt—it was all still there, buried beneath the surface, and he wasn’t sure if he was ready to confront it.

With a heavy sigh, he set the mug down and ran a hand through his hair. “Maybe a lunch with him will help clear my head,” he muttered, though he didn’t really believe it. Still, he wasn’t about to back out now. Jimin was probably looking forward to it, and Yoongi didn’t want to disappoint him.

They ended up at one of the most famous restaurants in the city, a place known for its exquisite food and celebrity clientele. Jimin had suggested it, his eyes lighting up when Yoongi agreed. Now they sat across from each other at a cozy corner table, the atmosphere warm and inviting, yet Yoongi couldn’t shake the unease that clung to him.

Jimin, on the other hand, was happily browsing the menu, his excitement palpable. “I’ve heard their kimchi jjigae is amazing,” he said, glancing up at Yoongi with a smile. “What are you going to get, hyung?”

Yoongi forced a smile, though it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “I don’t know, maybe just some bibimbap.”

Jimin noticed the lack of enthusiasm in Yoongi’s voice and tilted his head slightly, concern creeping into his expression. “Hyung, are you okay? You seem… off.”

“I’m fine, Jimin,” Yoongi replied, his voice a bit too curt. He immediately regretted it when he saw the flicker of hurt in Jimin’s eyes. “I’m just tired because of work, that’s all.”

Jimin nodded, though he wasn’t entirely convinced. He was about to say something more when a sudden commotion erupted near the entrance of the restaurant. Heads turned, whispers spread like wildfire, and the air buzzed with excitement.

Jimin’s eyes widened in surprise, and he turned to see what all the fuss was about. His face lit up with pure joy when he spotted the person causing all the excitement. “Oh my God, Yoongi-hyung, it’s J-Hope!” Jimin exclaimed, his voice filled with admiration and excitement. “He’s my idol! I can’t believe he’s here!”

Yoongi’s heart sank at the mention of J-Hope. Of course, it had to be him. He knew J-Hope well—too well, in fact—and the last thing he wanted was to be in the same room as him, especially with Jimin by his side. Memories of the past, of his first love, threatened to resurface, and he felt a surge of anxiety that he hadn’t experienced in a long time.

“Jimin, let’s just focus on our lunch, okay?” Yoongi said, his voice tighter than before. He tried to mask the unease, but Jimin was too perceptive.

Jimin looked at Yoongi, puzzled by the sudden change in his demeanor. “But hyung, it’s J-Hope! He’s amazing! Don’t you think it’s cool that we’re in the same restaurant as him?”

Yoongi’s jaw clenched as he forced himself to remain calm. “Jimin, it’s better if we don’t get involved with those celebrities. They’re not always what they seem.”

Jimin frowned, clearly confused by Yoongi’s attitude. “What do you mean? J-Hope is incredible. He’s so talented and kind. I’ve admired him for years. He’s the reason I started dancing in the first place.”

Yoongi’s frustration grew as Jimin continued to praise J-Hope. The more Jimin spoke, the more Yoongi’s insecurities and unresolved feelings surfaced. He didn’t want to hear about how amazing J-Hope was, not when he was still struggling with his own issues—issues that J-Hope was painfully connected to.

“Jimin, you don’t understand,” Yoongi said, his voice harsher than he intended. “These celebrities… they’re not all good people. They can be manipulative, selfish, and—”

“Hyung, why are you saying this?” Jimin interrupted, his voice laced with confusion and hurt. “J-Hope isn’t like that. He’s different. He’s someone I’ve looked up to for so long. How can you say those things about him? he is my favourite.”

Yoongi’s patience snapped, the tension inside him reaching a breaking point. He stood up abruptly, his chair scraping against the floor. “You don’t know him, Jimin. You don’t know anything about him or what he’s really like.”

Jimin’s eyes widened in shock as he watched Yoongi’s sudden outburst. “Hyung, what’s going on? Why are you acting like this?”

Yoongi couldn’t take it anymore. The unresolved pain, the jealousy, the fear—it all bubbled to the surface, and he couldn’t contain it. “Just stop, Jimin. Stop idolizing people you don’t know. They’ll only disappoint you and I can't take it anymore”

With those words, Yoongi turned on his heel and walked out of the restaurant, leaving Jimin sitting there alone, stunned and heartbroken.
