Chapter 7: The New Beginning
The sun filtered through the blinds of Jimin’s small apartment, casting a warm glow across the room. The concert the night before had left Jimin exhausted, and he had fallen into a deep sleep the moment his head hit the pillow. The alarm on his phone had been long silenced by a sleepy swipe of his hand, leaving him blissfully unaware of the time.
But all that changed when his phone rang loudly, vibrating on the bedside table. The sound jolted Jimin awake, and he squinted at the screen, trying to make sense of the caller ID. It was an unfamiliar number, but something told him he should answer it.
“Hello?” Jimin croaked, his voice still thick with sleep.
“Good morning, Mr. Park Jimin?” A professional-sounding woman’s voice came through the line.
Jimin sat up quickly, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. “Yes, this is Jimin. Who’s calling?”
“This is Ms. Park from Suga Management Agency. I’m calling to inform you that after reviewing your interview, we’ve decided to offer you the position of assistant manager. Congratulations!”
For a moment, Jimin was sure he was still dreaming. The words seemed to hang in the air, not fully registering. “Wait... what? I got the job?” His voice was a mix of disbelief and excitement.
“Yes, Mr. Jimin. We were impressed with your qualifications and believe you’ll be a valuable addition to our team. We’d like you to start today, if possible. I’ve just sent your official joining letter to your email. Could you be at our office by 1 p.m.?”
Jimin’s heart raced. This was it—the opportunity he’d been waiting for, the chance to work closely with Yoongi. “Yes, absolutely! I’ll be there,” he replied, trying to sound calm despite the excitement bubbling inside him.
“Excellent. We look forward to seeing you then. Please make sure to bring any required documents, as listed in the email. Have a good day, Mr. Park.”
“Thank you so much!” Jimin said before the call ended.
As soon as he hung up, the reality of what had just happened hit him full force. “I got the job!” he shouted, jumping out of bed and doing an impromptu dance around his room. “I got the job!”
He spun around, his heart pounding with joy. He could hardly believe it. Just yesterday, he had been nervous about the interview, and now, he was about to start working at Suga Management Agency. It felt like everything was finally falling into place.
But then, as he glanced at the clock, his excitement turned to panic. “Oh my god, it’s already 11 a.m.?!”
He had less than two hours to get ready and make it to the agency. “How could I sleep in so late?” Jimin groaned as he rushed to the bathroom, stripping off his pajamas and jumping into the shower.
The warm water barely had time to wake him up before he was out again, quickly toweling off and brushing his teeth. He rifled through his closet, trying to find something professional yet stylish. He settled on a pair of black dress pants, a crisp white shirt, and a sleek blazer. He wanted to make a good impression on his first day, after all.
As he got dressed, his phone buzzed with another notification. It was the email from Ms. Park, confirming his employment and listing the documents he needed to bring. Jimin quickly scanned the email, making a mental note to pack everything he needed.
“Okay, okay, I’ve got this,” he muttered to himself as he shoved his documents into a briefcase. His heart was still racing, a mix of nerves and excitement fueling his every move.
He grabbed a quick breakfast—a piece of toast and some juice—before slipping on his shoes and heading out the door. His mind was already at the agency, imagining what it would be like to work there, to see Yoongi every day. The thought made him smile despite his nerves.
Jimin practically ran to the nearest subway station, dodging people left and right as he made his way through the busy morning crowd. The city was alive with its usual hustle and bustle, but today, it felt different to Jimin. Everything seemed brighter, more vibrant, as if the world was reflecting his own excitement.
As he waited for the train, he couldn’t help but think back to the concert last night. It had been such an amazing experience, and now, to top it off with this job offer—it all felt surreal. He wondered what Jungkook and Taehyung would say when they found out. They’d probably tease him about being so nervous for no reason.
The train arrived, and Jimin quickly boarded, finding a spot to stand as the doors closed behind him. He glanced at the time on his phone—11:45 a.m. He should be able to make it on time if there were no delays.
The ride to the agency felt like it took forever, even though it was only a few stops away. Jimin couldn’t stop his mind from racing, going over every possible scenario of what his first day might be like. Would Yoongi be there? Would he even notice him? Or would Jimin just blend into the background, another nameless employee in a sea of people?
As the train pulled into his stop, Jimin took a deep breath. *This is it. No more doubting yourself. You’ve got this.*
He stepped off the train and made his way up to the street level, walking quickly towards the towering building that housed Suga Management Agency. The building was impressive, with its sleek glass exterior and modern design. It screamed success and professionalism, and Jimin couldn’t help but feel a little intimidated as he approached the entrance.
He paused for a moment, taking another deep breath to steady his nerves. “Okay, Jimin. You’re not just a fan anymore. You’re an employee. Time to act like one.”
With renewed determination, Jimin pushed open the glass doors and stepped into the lobby. The interior was just as impressive as the exterior—polished marble floors, sleek furniture, and a grand reception desk that dominated the center of the room.
Jimin approached the receptionist, a young woman with a friendly smile. “Good morning. I’m Park Jimin. I’m here for my first day as the assistant manager.”
The receptionist checked her computer, her smile never faltering. “Welcome, Mr. Park. We’ve been expecting you. If you could just wait here for a moment, someone will be down to escort you to your department.”
“Thank you,” Jimin replied, feeling a little more at ease with her warm welcome.
As he waited, he couldn’t help but take in his surroundings. The lobby was bustling with activity—employees coming and going, people chatting in small groups, and the faint sound of music playing in the background. It was a hive of creativity and energy, and Jimin felt a surge of excitement knowing he was now a part of it.
After a few minutes, a tall man with a professional demeanor approached Jimin. “Mr. Park? I’m Kim Seokjin, head of Human Resources. I’ll be taking you to your department.”
