Chapter - 14 Different Feelings!
As Jimin lay in bed, he couldn’t help but smile to himself, replaying the day’s events over and over in his mind. The way Yoongi had looked at him, even if he was initially indifferent, made Jimin’s heart flutter. He was excited about the future, about getting to know Yoongi better and proving his sincerity. He had never felt this way before, and it made him hopeful and happy. Jimin imagined their future interactions, how he could brighten Yoongi’s day, and how their connection might deepen. His smile lingered as he drifted off to sleep, dreaming of possibilities and the warmth of his growing affection for Yoongi.
In contrast, Yoongi lay in his darkened bedroom, his thoughts clouded with sadness. The memory of Jimin’s bright smile, the warmth in his eyes, and the genuine excitement in his voice felt like a bittersweet reminder of what he had been trying to avoid—hope. Yoongi’s heart ached as he replayed their encounter, filled with doubt and a profound sense of loneliness. The possibility of getting hurt again weighed heavily on him, making the night feel endless and cold.

The next morning, Jimin arrived at Yoongi’s studio with a spring in his step, ready to embrace the challenges of his new job. However, as soon as he entered, he found Yoongi in a state of frustration, rummaging through drawers and scattering papers across his desk.
“Yoongi, is everything okay?” Jimin asked, his voice filled with concern.
Yoongi looked up, his face etched with anxiety. “No, not really. I’m missing a pen drive. It has unreleased music and songs on it—stuff I was working on and really need. I distinctly remember putting it in the drawer here yesterday, but now it’s gone.”
Jimin’s eyes widened slightly, though he tried to maintain a calm demeanor. He had an inkling of which pen drive Yoongi was talking about. The night before, he had accidentally taken the pen drive home but hadn’t mentioned it yet. Seeing Yoongi so distressed, Jimin felt a pang of guilt but decided to keep quiet for now.
“Let’s search the studio,” Jimin suggested, starting to help Yoongi. He opened drawers, shuffled through papers, and peered into every nook and cranny, all the while trying to keep his expression neutral.
Yoongi, meanwhile, was pacing back and forth, his frustration palpable. “I don’t get it. I was so careful about putting it away. It has to be here somewhere.”
Jimin mirrored Yoongi’s movements, opening the same drawers and checking the same spots multiple times. He maintained a concerned look on his face, but internally, he was holding back a smirk. He had a plan in mind. The pen drive wasn’t in the studio; it was safe and sound in his apartment.
As the hours passed, their search became more frantic. Jimin’s acting skills were put to the test as he feigned desperation and concern. He couldn’t help but feel a little amused by the situation, though he remained focused on his objective.
“Maybe you misplaced it somewhere else?” Jimin suggested, trying to sound hopeful.
Yoongi shook his head, running a hand through his hair. “No, I’m sure I left it here. This is the only place I would have put it. I don’t understand how it could just vanish.”
Jimin offered to look in places Yoongi had already checked, hoping to ease his boss’s tension. He even suggested they check the office lounge and the meeting room, places he knew were highly unlikely to contain the pen drive.
By the end of the day, both were exhausted. Yoongi slumped into his chair, visibly disheartened. “I don’t know what else to do. It’s just… gone.”
Jimin, acting as though he was just as baffled, patted Yoongi on the back sympathetically. “We’ll find it. It’s just a matter of time.”
Yoongi nodded, though he looked far from convinced. “Yeah, I hope so.”
As they wrapped up for the day, Jimin offered to help clean up the studio. He continued his pretense, pretending to search one last time while secretly feeling a mix of guilt and satisfaction. His plan was to keep the pen drive for a little while longer, hoping to use it as a way to get closer to Yoongi or to understand him better. He knew it was a risky move, but he was willing to take the chance.
Once the studio was tidied up and Yoongi had left for the day, Jimin finally allowed himself a small smile. He had played his part well, and now he had to think of a way to handle the situation when Yoongi eventually discovered the pen drive was in his possession.
