Chapter 8: The First Meeting
Jimin shook his hand, trying to hide his nervousness. “Nice to meet you, Mr. Kim. Thank you for showing me around.”
“Please, call me Jin,” the man said with a warm smile. “We’re all pretty casual here, despite the formal appearance.”
Jin led Jimin through the building, pointing out various departments and introducing him to a few people along the way. They took the elevator up to one of the higher floors, where Jimin’s department was located.
“This is the marketing and management division,” Jin explained as they stepped out of the elevator. “You’ll be working directly with the marketing team, as well as assisting with artist management. Your role will be quite dynamic, so be prepared for a fast-paced environment.”
Jimin nodded, taking in every word. He was eager to get started, to prove himself in this new role.
They stopped in front of a sleek glass door with the words “Artist Management” etched into it. Jin opened the door and led Jimin inside.
The room was spacious, with large windows that offered a stunning view of the city skyline. Desks were arranged in a way that encouraged collaboration, and there was a noticeable buzz of activity as people worked on various tasks.
“This will be your workspace,” Jin said, motioning to a desk near the windows. “You’ll have everything you need here. Your supervisor, Ms. Park, will be meeting with you shortly to go over your duties and expectations.”
Jimin nodded, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. He couldn’t believe this was really happening—he was here, in Suga’s agency, about to start his first day on the job.
“Thank you, Jin,” Jimin said sincerely. “I really appreciate your help.”
“No problem, Jimin. We’re glad to have you on board. I’m sure you’ll do great,” Jin replied with a reassuring smile before heading out.
Jimin sat down at his new desk, taking a moment to let everything sink in. The reality of his new job was starting to hit him, and with it came a wave of excitement. He was ready to give it his all, to make the most of this opportunity use to get close to Yoongi and know him better personally.
As he waited for Ms. Park, Jimin’s thoughts drifted to Yoongi. *Will I see him today?* he wondered, his heart skipping a beat at the thought. *What if I mess up? What if he doesn’t even notice me?*
But Jimin quickly shook off those thoughts. This was his chance, and he wasn’t going to let self-doubt ruin it.
Jimin stood outside the door to Yoongi’s studio, his heart racing. He had spent the past hour familiarizing himself with the office and meeting various members of the team, but this—this was the moment he had been both anticipating and dreading. The door in front of him led to where Min Yoongi, one of the most brilliant minds in the music industry, spent most of his time creating masterpieces. And now, as Yoongi's personal assistant, Jimin's main responsibility was to be by his side, assisting him with anything and everything he needed.
Jimin took a deep breath, smoothing down his clothes and trying to steady his nerves. He had to make a good first impression. No, a great first impression. This was his dream job, after all.
Gathering his courage, Jimin knocked on the door.
“Come in,” a deep voice called from inside.
Jimin pushed the door open slowly and stepped inside, his heart pounding. The studio was dimly lit, with soft light coming from the computer screens and a few ambient lamps. The walls were lined with soundproofing panels, and the air was filled with the faint hum of equipment. The room had a cozy, creative vibe, and it was clear that this was a space where magic happened.
And there, sitting at the desk with his back to the door, was Yoongi, engrossed in his work. His fingers danced over the keyboard as he adjusted levels, mixed tracks, and reviewed what Jimin could only assume was a new song in the making.
For a moment, Jimin just stood there, taking it all in. Seeing Yoongi up close like this—so focused, so in his element—was a sight to behold. His sharp features were softened by the glow of the monitors, and Jimin couldn’t help but admire the way Yoongi’s brow furrowed in concentration, his lips pressed into a thin line as he worked. Even the way his long fingers moved across the controls seemed mesmerizing.
Jimin smiled to himself, feeling a strange sense of contentment just being in the same room as Yoongi. This was the man whose music had been a constant source of inspiration and comfort to him, and now he was here, close enough to touch. But he wouldn't dare interrupt. Not when Yoongi was so deeply immersed in his craft.
Minutes passed, and Jimin continued to watch silently, unable to tear his eyes away. He could see the passion in every movement Yoongi made, and it only deepened his admiration for the man. But then, almost as if sensing he was being watched, Yoongi suddenly stopped what he was doing and turned his head, his eyes narrowing slightly as they landed on Jimin.
Yoongi blinked, clearly startled to find someone standing there. “What the—” he started, his voice laced with surprise. But then recognition flickered in his eyes, and his expression shifted to one of mild confusion. “Who are you, and why are you standing there like that?”
Jimin’s heart skipped a beat, but he quickly composed himself, flashing Yoongi a bright, confident smile. “Hello, Mr. Min,” he greeted, his voice smooth and steady. Then, with a playful wink and a touch of sassiness, he added, “I’m your new assistant, Park Jimin. I’ll be working with you from now on.”
Yoongi’s eyes widened slightly, clearly taken aback by Jimin’s bold introduction. For a moment, he just stared at Jimin, as if trying to process what he’d just heard. But then his expression softened, and a small, amused smile tugged at the corners of his lips. “Park Jimin, huh? I think we met before?”
“That’s right, we met at park near to my residence.” Jimin replied, stepping forward with a bit more confidence now that he had Yoongi’s attention. “I’m here to assist you with anything you need, so you can focus on your music without any distractions.”
Yoongi leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms over his chest as he continued to study Jimin. “You’ve got a lot of confidence, I’ll give you that,” he remarked, his tone laced with curiosity. “But tell me, Jimin, do you know what you’re getting yourself into? Working with me isn’t exactly a walk in the park.”
Jimin didn’t miss a beat. “I’m well aware, Mr. Min. But I’m up for the challenge. I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t.”
