Chapter 2: Crossing Paths Again

Jimin wasn’t one to give up easily, especially not when something—or someone—had captured his heart. Ever since his first encounter with Yoongi, he had been determined to find a way into the older man’s life. And today, he was going to try again.

It was early morning when Jimin spotted Yoongi heading out for his daily jog. Timing it perfectly, Jimin casually walked in the opposite direction, making it seem like a coincidence when they crossed paths.

“Good morning!” Jimin greeted cheerfully, flashing his brightest smile.

Yoongi barely spared him a glance. “Morning,” he replied, his voice cool and distant.

Jimin wasn’t deterred. He jogged a few steps to catch up with Yoongi, walking alongside him. “It’s a nice day for a run, isn’t it?” he said, trying to make conversation.

Yoongi stopped abruptly, turning to face Jimin with an unreadable expression. “Look,” he said, his tone firm but not unkind. “I don’t know you, and I don’t talk to strangers.”

Jimin’s smile faltered, his shoulders slumping slightly. He hadn’t expected Yoongi to be so blunt. “But we could get to know each other…and can't you just try talking with me, so we can know each other better.” Jimin suggested softly, his voice almost hopeful.

Yoongi shook his head, his expression softening just a bit. “I’m not interested,” he said simply before turning and walking away.

Jimin stood there, watching Yoongi’s retreating figure with a pout. He sighed heavily, feeling a mix of disappointment and determination. “I’ll just have to try harder,” he muttered to himself, before heading off in the opposite direction.

Later that day, Jimin met up with his best friend Taehyung at a cozy little café they often visited. Taehyung was already there when Jimin arrived, sitting at a corner table with his boyfriend, Jungkook.

“Jiminie!” Taehyung called out as soon as he saw him, waving enthusiastically.

Jimin smiled and hurried over to the table. “Hey, Tae, Kookie,” he greeted them as he slid into the seat across from them.

Jungkook smirked as he took a sip of his coffee. “About time you showed up. We were starting to think you stood us up for some secret lover.”

Jimin rolled his eyes, but a blush crept up his cheeks. “You know I don’t have a lover,” he muttered.

Taehyung leaned forward, resting his chin on his hand. “Really? Because I’m pretty sure I saw you blushing just now,” he teased, his eyes sparkling with mischief.

Jimin hesitated for a moment before deciding to share. “Well… there’s this guy,” he began, his voice shy.

Jungkook’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. “A guy? Tell us everything!” he demanded eagerly.

Jimin smiled, feeling a little more confident now. “His name is Yoongi. I… ran into him a couple of days ago. Literally,” he said, laughing softly at the memory. “And ever since then, I can’t stop thinking about him.”

Taehyung and Jungkook exchanged a glance, both of them grinning. “Love at first sight, huh?” Taehyung teased.

Jimin nodded, his expression softening. “Yeah, I think so,” he admitted. “But he’s not interested. He even told me today that he doesn’t talk to strangers.”

Jungkook chuckled. “Well, you’re not going to be a stranger for long if you keep bumping into him like that.”

“Exactly,” Taehyung agreed. “You just need to keep trying, Jiminie. Maybe Yoongi’s just a little guarded, but if anyone can break through those walls, it’s you.”

Jimin felt a warmth spread through him at his friends’ encouragement. “Thanks, guys,” he said, smiling brightly. “I’m not giving up yet.”

Taehyung and Jungkook exchanged another look, both of them silently agreeing that Jimin was already in too deep. But they didn’t say anything. They knew that sometimes, the best love stories were the ones that didn’t come easy.

Jimin was grateful for Taehyung and Jungkook’s encouragement, but a part of him still felt uncertain. Yoongi had been so cold, so distant—it was as if he had built an impenetrable wall around himself.

“I just don’t know how to get through to him,” Jimin said, his voice tinged with frustration. “He’s so… closed off.”

Taehyung reached across the table to pat Jimin’s hand. “Don’t worry, Jiminie. You’ve got this. Just be yourself. If Yoongi can’t see how amazing you are, then he’s the one missing out.”

Jungkook, who had been quietly listening, suddenly leaned forward, a thoughtful expression on his face. “You know, Jimin,” he began slowly, “my dad’s company has a lot of connections in Seoul. I could help you find out more about Yoongi.”

Jimin’s eyes widened in surprise. “You would do that for me, Kookie?” he asked, touched by the offer.

Jungkook shrugged, a small smile playing on his lips. “Of course. If Yoongi’s someone important, or even if he’s just a regular guy living in Seoul, I can get the information you need. Sometimes, knowing a little more about someone’s past can help you understand them better.”

Taehyung grinned, nudging Jimin playfully. “See? You’ve got the best friends in the world, Jiminie. We’re not going to let you give up on this that easily.”

Jimin’s heart swelled with affection for his friends. He knew they were right—having more information about Yoongi might give him an edge, or at the very least, help him understand why Yoongi was so guarded.

“Okay,” Jimin said, his resolve strengthening. “Let’s do it. Kookie, if you can find out anything about Yoongi, I’d really appreciate it.”

Jungkook nodded, pulling out his phone. “Consider it done. I’ll make a few calls and see what I can dig up. Give me a couple of days.”

Jimin smiled gratefully, his spirits lifting. “Thanks, Kookie. I owe you one.”

Jungkook waved his hand dismissively. “Nah, just invite me to the wedding, and we’ll call it even.”

Taehyung laughed, clapping Jimin on the back. “You hear that? Jungkook’s already planning your wedding! Better start thinking about your vows.”

Jimin blushed, shaking his head with a smile. “You guys are crazy,” he said, but the lightness in his voice showed that their support meant everything to him.

As they continued to chat, Jimin couldn’t help but feel a renewed sense of hope. With Taehyung and Jungkook by his side, he knew he wasn’t alone in this. And now, with Jungkook’s resources, he might finally get a glimpse into the life of the mysterious man who had captured his heart.

Jimin was determined to know every single detail about him And maybe, just maybe, he could find a way to heal the wounds Yoongi was carrying—and, in the process, bring a little love and light into both of their lives.
