Chapter - 18 Guilt and Regret !

The blinding light of morning streamed through the hospital room's window, casting a soft glow across the sterile environment. Jimin slowly stirred from his sleep, his eyelids fluttering open to reveal a white ceiling. He shifted slightly, feeling the soft, cushioned hospital bed beneath him. As he adjusted to his surroundings, his gaze fell upon Yoongi, who was curled up on a single sofa near the bed.

Yoongi looked utterly exhausted, his face etched with lines of concern even in sleep. His usual composure was replaced by an uncharacteristic vulnerability as he slept, his breathing steady but troubled. Jimin’s heart ached at the sight. The memories of the previous night came rushing back, filling him with a whirlwind of emotions. He tried to sit up, his body ached slightly but he managed to make some progress.

The slight sound of movement was enough to stir Yoongi from his fitful slumber. He awoke with a start, eyes snapping open as he immediately focused on Jimin. The moment their eyes met, Yoongi’s expression shifted from surprise to profound relief. He pushed himself off the sofa, moving with an urgency that was almost frantic.

“Jimin!” Yoongi’s voice cracked with emotion as he hurried to the bedside. Without hesitation, he enveloped Jimin in a tight embrace, pulling him close as if he were afraid to let go. “I’m so sorry,” Yoongi mumbled into Jimin’s shoulder, his voice thick with unshed tears. “I’m so, so sorry.”

Jimin was taken aback by the intensity of Yoongi’s reaction. He could feel the warmth of Yoongi’s body, the tremble in his arms, and the frantic way he held on. Jimin's eyes welled up as he processed the depth of Yoongi’s remorse and worry.

“It’s okay, Yoongi,” Jimin whispered, his voice soft but soothing. He placed a hand gently on Yoongi’s back, trying to comfort him as much as himself. “It’s okay. I’m alright.”

Yoongi’s grip tightened as he buried his face into Jimin’s shoulder, his voice muffled but clear in its pleading tone. “No, it’s not okay. I should never have pushed you away. I was so stupid, Jimin. I didn’t mean for any of this to happen. I—I thought you were just messing around, and I didn’t take you seriously. I didn’t realize how much I needed you until… until I saw you out there in the rain.”

Jimin’s heart ached even more at Yoongi’s words. He could feel the sincerity in Yoongi’s apology, the raw emotion that he struggled to control. Jimin’s own feelings were a complex mix of sadness and hope. He had seen Yoongi’s vulnerability, his remorse, and now, in this moment of intimacy, he felt a surge of compassion.

“I know,” Jimin said softly, his voice trembling slightly. “I know you didn’t mean to hurt me. I understand now. I just— I wanted you to see that I care, that I’m serious about us. But it’s okay. I’m just happy you’re here.”

Yoongi pulled back slightly, enough to look into Jimin’s eyes, his own filled with a mix of guilt and hope. “I’ve been so afraid,” Yoongi admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. “Afraid that I’d be a burden, that I’d mess everything up. And then when I saw you out there, I realized how much I’ve messed up already.”

Jimin shook his head gently, his gaze steady and reassuring. “You didn’t mess things up. We just need to talk, to understand each other better. I’m not going anywhere, Yoongi. I’m here for you.”

Yoongi’s eyes softened as he looked at Jimin, the intensity of his earlier emotions giving way to a more tender, vulnerable expression. “I don’t deserve someone as kind as you,” he said quietly, his voice full of emotion. “But I want to try, Jimin. I really do.”

Jimin reached up, brushing a stray lock of hair from Yoongi’s forehead. “You don’t have to be perfect, Yoongi. Just be yourself. That’s all I ask.”

The two shared a moment of silence, their eyes locked in mutual understanding. The room, filled with the soft beeping of medical equipment and the distant murmur of hospital staff, felt suddenly intimate, a sanctuary for their shared vulnerability.

“Let’s make things right,” Yoongi said softly, his voice tinged with determination. “I want to be with you, Jimin. I want us to work through this together. I want to give a chance not to you but to myself.”

Jimin smiled through his tears, his heart swelling with a mixture of relief and affection. “I’d like that,” he said softly. “I’d like that a lot.”

As Yoongi settled back into the chair next to Jimin’s bed, he took Jimin’s hand in his own, their fingers intertwining. For the first time in a long while, Yoongi felt a glimmer of hope, a sense of possibility. He knew that there were challenges ahead, but with Jimin by his side, he felt ready to face them.

The rain continued to fall outside, a gentle reminder of the storm that had passed. Inside the hospital room, however, there was a sense of calm and renewal. For Yoongi and Jimin, it was the beginning of a new chapter, one where they would navigate their feelings and their future together.
