Inayat's Pov

The whole house was buzzing with excitement filled with lots of people. Tons of flowers and fairy lights adorned the house like a heavenly abode. People were hustling around to finish the work as fast as they could, as the wedding was a day wedding.

The Ganesh Puja got finished, according to our family, we held the puja on the day of the wedding. I was going towards my room, when I heard Maa calling me.

“Yes maa!”

“Inu, ek baar humare room mei aana.” She said and left for her room.

(“Inu, come to our room for once.”)

A frown came on my face hearing her being so serious, she was happily chatting a few minutes before. What happened suddenly? I shook my thoughts away and went to their room.

I saw Maa and Papa sitting on chairs patiently, I quietly sat down in front of them. I started fidgeting with my fingers, when they didn't tell me anything.

“Inu, we wanted to talk to you before you start donning yourself as someone's bride. We wanted to talk to you for the last time you will ever just be a daughter. From today onwards, you’ll become the wife of someone and a daughter in law.” Maa whispered the words. My eyes got blurred with tears as I heard her.

I got up and kneel down and hugged them both, “Beta, we know you might be scared for the future. That is normal, Ivaan must be feeling the same. But for a woman, she would be more scared. Every parent would say, adjust, try to win your in-laws' hearts. Yes! Do that, but remember adjustment should never be from one side Inayat. Winning someone's heart shouldn't be your responsibility alone in this relationship. Your opinion, your choice, they need to value that. I know them, they are good people, but when it comes to a daughter's life, parents can never feel at ease. And remember, never adjust too much that you lose the Inayat that you once were. Always be that radiant and lively Inayat Sehgal that we are proud to call our daughter.

You are the beat of our hearts, but never ever think that we won't support you if things don't go as we or you thought it should go by. If you find any difficulty, you know whom to call and find, we will be there.” Mom patted my head lovingly.

I turned my head towards Papa and saw him crying, “Papa!”

“Papa, aap mat rou na, mujhe accha nahi lag raha. Main issi city mei rahungi na, bhaag ke milne aa jaungi aapse. Aap aise rou matt, please.” My voice wavered and the tears weren't stopping.

(“Papa, please don’t cry. I don’t like seeing you like this. I’ll still be living in this city, and I’ll come running to see you whenever I want. Please don’t cry like this, I beg you.”)

He wiped his face, and hung his head low. I raised my hands and made him look up to me.

“Papa will miss his Inu Bear.” I wiped his cheeks, and shook my head to stop him from crying again.

“Inu Bear will also miss her Papa.” I hugged him tightly.

“Your Di gangs up with your Maa, but I had you. We both were partners. Now what will I do?”

“Your Inu bear will come to meet you, and you will also come to visit me.” I gave a smile to encourage him. He reluctantly nodded.

“We both used to do crazy dance together Inu. Now how will we dance?”

“Yeh problem thodi hui papa, jab bhi main aungi, we will dance for sure. Pakka wala promise.” He gave a smile to me, maa rubbed his back.

(“This isn’t a problem, Papa. Whenever I come, we will definitely dance for sure. I promise, a real promise.”)
