"You should get some sleep," I said.

Kiera looked at me over her shoulder, those gorgeous sea-green eyes were dimmed. She had terrible eye bags and yawned every few seconds. Yet she still said, "No. You're the one driving. You can sleep."

My hands tightened on her waist. Ever since we first started flying on Festus, it just felt natural, and I was glad Kiera didn't hate me for it. Besides, she was afraid of heights and would constantly lean back on me.

"Kiera," I said. "You just took those hits like nothing. You need sleep."

Kiera looked away, and her shoulders sagged. "Yeah, like nothing. I just—I wish I could've helped more."

"You did great," I frowned.

"No I just—I don't know why I'm so weak. Something's wrong with me, and I can't tell what it is." She mumbled.

Kier genuinely looked upset. I couldn't tell what she was upset about, though. She fought the Cyclopes like it was nothing, controlling the water and protecting the others. Yet she still thought she wasn't enough help, while I sat there, screwing with a little remote.

"You did amazing," I put my chin on her shoulder. "Now rest."

She opened her mouth to protest, but she closed it and leaned back on me. I wrapped my arms around her tighter, and Kiera's forehead rested just under my chin.

"You won't let me fall off?" Kiera yawned.

"Never. You're not getting away from me that easily, Water Girl."

She smiled softly at me, her eyes still closed. "Okay, Fire Boy."

Faster than I expected, her body went limp in my arms, her breathing slowing down at a soft rate. After I dropped that engine on Ma Gasket, and I had fallen to my knees, she was worried.

Even though she was hurt at the moment, Kiera got up and ran to me. She looked at me as if I was all that mattered to her. And that kiss on my cheek? It surprised me completely. Kiera was never one to show affection like that. She'd show it by joking around, sometimes holding a hand, or giving a hug. But nothing like that.

Piper poked me with her toe. "She asleep?"

I looked down at Kiera's sleeping form. "Seems like it."

"Mm." Piper hesitated. "You do know how she feels, right?"

"Huh?" I asked.

"She's head over heels for you , Valdez." Piper grinned.

My face burned at the thought of Kiera liking me. Seriously? I thought. The only daughter of Poseidon, in love with me? The son of Hephaestus? Yea right. We're total opposites!

"I can say the same for you and Jason," I smirked at her.

Now it was Piper's turn to blush. She stuttered something quietly and looked away.

Kiera shifted in her sleep, her face in a frown like she found something disgusting. Her hand lightly wrapped around the reigns in my left hand, before sliding up to my wrist.

"You good?" I whispered.

I barely realized it, but her breathing was picking up pace. Sweat beaded on her forehead despite the wind and cold weather. She still wore my army jacket.

"Hey," I shook her shoulder lightly.

She didn't wake up, and turned her head down slightly. It was starting to scare me. Was she okay? What was going on in her head?

I let go of the reins in my right hand and brushed her hair out of her face. As soon as my hand touched her forehead, she seemed to calm down more.

Kiera's breathing slowed once more to a relaxed pace, and she backed up into me more. Her back was to my chest, and she was slightly turned, so her head could rest on me. I kept my right hand free and resting on her left hip, lightly drawing shapes on the bare skin of her waist—hey, I'm not a weirdo, okay? Her shirt was slightly lifted and I was only consoling her after whatever happened!
