Kiera and I sat at her table with Jason and Piper.
She barely even ate, well, until I told her to.
Kiera looked down at her plate and sighed as waffles materialized onto her plate, a cup of orange juice forming in her goblet. She told me how her and her brother, Percy, always ate blue food. This morning, everything was blue, from the butter to her orange juice.
I squeezed her hand under the table. "I know, you're not hungry, but, please eat. For me?"
She met my eyes and nodded solemnly, which was odd, considering that she seemed happy this morning. Those gorgeous sea-green eyes were darker, like she was remembering bad times.
Piper looked at the locket Jason gave her, she smiled and kissed his cheek.
Gods, I can't wait till Kiera and I can do that. . . Well, in public. I started eating my regular-and-less-fun-waffles.

"Campers!" Chiron shouted, banging his hoof on the pavilion floor. "You have three hours to work on your chariots, beginning, now!"
Demigods ran around, grabbing random items off the tables. In the chaos, I saw some Hermes kid snag an Ares Cabin's utensils, slipping them into a small bag.
Kiera pulled out a small piece of paper from—nowhere? It looked like it just formed out of midair.
I frowned. "How'd you do that?"
She winked at me and I focused on not bursting into flame.
"Magic trick," Kiera smirked before jogging off to the forges. Jason running to catch up behind her.
Harley yanked on my hand, dragging me out of the dining pavilion and over to a hidden shack behind the Hephaestus cabin.
"Listen," Harley whispered. "This is where we keep all of our scraps and stuff for the races. Only we can unlock it—well, and Kiera. Not even the Hermes kids can open it."
"How come Kiera can open it?" I asked.
Harley rolled his eyes. "Come on, listen! She's almost like one of us Hephaestus kids. She spends most of her time in the forges or with us, and she always made sure Cabin Three and Nine are together for activities. So, we treat her like one of us."
I shrugged. There wasn't anything wrong with that to me.
Harley looked around quickly before placing his hand on the lock.
CLICK!—the lock fell to the ground.
"It seriously can't be that easy—" my voice trailed off as Harley switched secret buttons on, twisting codes, and flicking levers.
There was a hiss, and the door started opening. The lights weren't on yet, so we couldn't see it.
Harley crossed his arms, like the ten-year-old had made the whole system—I wouldn't be surprised if he did—and approved personally of it.
He trudged in and flicked the lights on.
We both froze.
With her back to us, Kiera was grabbing scraps—notice how I said 'was'. Kiera slowly turned around, staring at us with wide eyes. She had pieces of Celestial Bronze, Stygian Iron, and wood in her arms. She blinked, then dropped all of the items—which also disappeared into nothing. It was kind of like those magic-tricks you'd see a magician preform with a mirror in front of them, putting the item in a box behind the mirror. Except I knew it wasn't just a phony trick.
