I couldn't believe Kiera Jackson was at my school, my Kiera!

We laughed as she gasped for breath, freshly saved—by none other than me—from choking to death on a pickle.

"Assholes," She smiled as she finally caught her breath.

Her black hair was slightly messed up, which in my opinion looked better. Kiera's sea-green eyes were crinkled because of her smile lines—god those eyes, they're my second favorite thing about her. Her personality is first, and her eyes are second because they seem to always look like the nearest water source.

Whenever we sat at the beach together, her eyes would match the ocean perfectly, and they were always stunning to me.

Piper shook her head and handed Kiera a napkin, "Here, girl."

She wiped her mouth and fixed her hair—much to my disappointment.

"Is it movie time?" I said with my signature grin. Some people seemed unnerved whenever I grinned at them, I hoped it wasn't the same with Kiera. You don't wanna go around scaring the girl you're into, do you?

"Movie?" Kiera asked, her eyes lighting up. "I love movies."

Piper cleaned up her tray as she said, "yeah, tonight is. . .Mulan? I think it's Mulan."

"Yea, we watched beauty and the beast last time," I said.

Kiera nodded and she took a final bite of her sandwich, where the woman got the appetite after almost dying, I had no idea. Her eyes shined with a bit of challenge whenever she looked at anyone she didn't like. It was that way earlier, when she stood up to Isabel this morning. The way she exploded that water bottle midair? Sick.

I stood up, offering my hand to her, grabbing our trays in the other. "M'Lady," I smirked.

She rolled her eyes but took it anyways.

Step one, make her fall in love with me. . . It's a work in progress.

Piper's eyes flitted down to our joined hands and she slightly shook her head, a smile on her face.

Don't ruin this for me, Pipes. I mentally ordered.

Piper led us back to their dorm, even if I knew the way already, it didn't matter. Kiera and I walked a bit slower, which I knew was killing her because she always walked fast. She wore a black long-sleeve that fell off her shoulders, and a pair of jeans that complemented the outfit on her. Just by even looking at her, you could feel safe around her—maybe that was just me.

Kiera handed Piper her key as she walked in, placing it on the hook rack next to the door. Kiera's stuff was already entirely unpacked, dark blue stuff everywhere. She had her dresser tucked underneath her bed, which had white silk sheets, and a dark blue comforter. A gray blanket was folded neatly on the end of her bed. She had a nightstand, which was covered in her stuff, some paper with words I couldn't read—I'm dyslexic, so was Kiera, which kind of confused me—some sort of bottle of pills with a note next to it, a textbook, and her Polaroid camera.

I snatched up the camera and quickly turned it on. I spun around to face Keira, surprising her entirely.

Her eyes widened as she realized what I was doing. She realized just a second too late.

CLICK!

A bright flash came from the from of the camera and Keira put a hand over her eyes, blinking quickly.

"Damn you, Valdez!" She muttered a few more curses as she tried taking the camera from me, which I didn't allow easily.

Okay, I did allow it.
