As they walked back to the villa, the warm glow of the setting sun bathed the landscape in soft, golden hues. The ocean breeze followed them, rustling through their hair, but despite the beauty around them, there was an undeniable tension lingering in the air.Taehyung's heart was still pounding, his mind unable to shake the memory of Jungkook’s lips against his. It had been such a fleeting kiss, but it left a mark on him—one he couldn't easily brush off. He kept stealing glances at Jungkook, wondering if the other was as affected by it as he was. But Jungkook’s expression remained calm, almost unreadable, though there was a slight tug of amusement still playing at his lips.
Once they reached the villa, Jungkook opened the door for them, allowing Taehyung to step inside first. The air in the villa was cool, a stark contrast to the heat still simmering beneath Taehyung’s skin. He moved into the living room, trying to shake the feeling of Jungkook’s gaze lingering on him, as if waiting for him to say something.
Taehyung couldn’t take it anymore. He had been on the back foot all day, and every teasing comment, every touch had left him flustered and off-balance. He needed to regain some sense of control, but at the same time, he couldn't deny how much he enjoyed Jungkook's attention—how much he wanted it.
As he stood in the middle of the room, his back to Jungkook, Taehyung bit his lip, contemplating what to do. Should he confront Jungkook? Should he pretend nothing happened?
Before he could come to a decision, Jungkook’s voice broke through the silence.
“You’re awfully quiet,” Jungkook said, his tone light but probing. He leaned casually against the doorway, his eyes fixed on Taehyung’s back. “Thinking about something?”
Taehyung stiffened slightly but forced himself to turn around, facing Jungkook head-on. His heart was racing, but he didn’t want to give that away. He crossed his arms, trying to appear nonchalant, though the slight tremble in his hands betrayed him.
“Just... thinking about the walk,” Taehyung lied, hoping Jungkook wouldn’t press further.
But, of course, Jungkook wasn’t about to let it go. He stepped closer, his eyes glinting with that familiar teasing spark. “Is that all? Nothing else on your mind?” His voice was low, soft, but there was something about it that made Taehyung’s pulse quicken again.
Taehyung opened his mouth to respond, but the words stuck in his throat. He felt cornered, unable to find a way out of this without exposing how flustered he really was. His eyes flickered to the floor, trying to avoid Jungkook’s intense gaze, but it was no use.
Jungkook took another step closer, his presence overwhelming. “You’re blushing again, Tae,” he murmured, his voice smooth and teasing, and Taehyung’s stomach twisted at the way Jungkook said his name.
“I’m not,” Taehyung protested weakly, though they both knew it wasn’t true. His cheeks were already burning, and the more Jungkook teased him, the more he felt like he was losing control of the situation.
Jungkook chuckled softly, his eyes never leaving Taehyung’s face. “You are. And you’re avoiding my eyes again.”
Taehyung bit his lip, suddenly feeling small under Jungkook’s steady gaze. He tried to find something to say, anything to deflect the attention, but his mind was a mess of confusion and embarrassment.
And then, as if sensing his internal struggle, Jungkook’s playful demeanor softened slightly. He reached out, gently lifting Taehyung’s chin so their eyes met. “Why do you always get so shy around me?” Jungkook asked, his voice still teasing, but there was a gentleness to it now—a curiosity that made Taehyung’s heart flutter.
Taehyung swallowed hard, his breath hitching as he tried to come up with an answer. Why did he get so shy? Was it because Jungkook had this way of making him feel seen, in a way no one else did? Was it because every little touch, every little word, sent his emotions into a spiral?
“I don’t know,” Taehyung finally whispered, his voice barely audible. “You just... You always make me feel like this.”
Jungkook’s eyes softened at the confession, and for a moment, the teasing smile faltered. His thumb brushed gently against Taehyung’s cheek, the touch featherlight but enough to make Taehyung’s pulse race even faster.
“Like what?” Jungkook asked, his voice a quiet murmur now, all traces of teasing gone.
Taehyung’s breath hitched, and he felt his heart pounding in his chest. The words were caught in his throat, but he knew there was no going back now. “Like I can’t think straight,” he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. “Like I’m always... on edge when you’re around.”
Jungkook’s gaze softened even more, and for the first time, there was no teasing glint in his eyes—just a quiet understanding. He didn’t say anything for a moment, just let his thumb trace slow, gentle circles on Taehyung’s cheek.
“I don’t mean to make you nervous,” Jungkook said softly, his voice sincere. “But I can’t help it either. You’re... different, Tae.”
Taehyung’s breath caught, and for a moment, they just stood there, the air between them thick with unspoken feelings. There was a weight to Jungkook’s words, a sincerity that made Taehyung’s chest tighten.
And then, before Taehyung could even process what was happening, Jungkook leaned in, his lips brushing softly against Taehyung’s. It was gentle, almost hesitant, but it sent a shockwave through Taehyung’s entire body. His heart raced, his mind spinning as he instinctively leaned into the kiss, his eyes fluttering closed.
The kiss was slow, tender, and filled with a quiet intensity that took Taehyung’s breath away. It wasn’t like the teasing peck from earlier—this was something deeper, something more meaningful.
When they finally pulled apart, Taehyung’s cheeks were flushed, his breath shallow as he opened his eyes to meet Jungkook’s gaze. Jungkook was smiling softly, his thumb still gently caressing Taehyung’s cheek.
“I think you tease me just as much as I tease you,” Jungkook murmured, his voice low and filled with warmth.
Taehyung’s heart skipped a beat at the words, and he felt a shy smile tugging at his lips. Maybe he wasn’t so bad at this after all.
