The seasons had shifted once again. Summer had given way to autumn, with leaves turning vibrant red and gold, painting the landscape in hues of nostalgia. The air carried a chill that signaled the approach of winter, and with it, the quiet, contemplative moments that Jungkook and Taehyung had come to cherish in their later years.Jungkyung is now away at university, fully immersed in the world of art and business. It had been a bittersweet departure, sending him off to pursue his dreams, but it was the natural progression of life. Taehyung and Jungkook had always known this day would come, yet no amount of preparation could have made the house feel less empty once Jungkyung left. The laughter, the daily routines, the gentle chaos of raising a teenager—all had faded, leaving behind the soft, quiet rhythm of two people who had spent their entire adult lives growing together.
One rainy afternoon, Jungkook stood by the large bay window in their living room, staring out at the raindrops racing down the glass. The pitter-patter of the rain was soothing, a constant soundtrack that had accompanied so many moments in their shared life. He took a deep breath, hands tucked into his sweater pockets, before turning his gaze back toward the room where Taehyung was curled up on the couch with a book.
Taehyung looked peaceful, lost in the pages of his novel, his reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of his nose. The soft glow of the lamp illuminated his face, highlighting the silver streaks that had crept into his dark hair. Jungkook smiled to himself. Time had marked them both, but those changes only made their love more profound. The lines around Taehyung's eyes spoke of decades of shared smiles and laughter, while the gray in Jungkook's own hair was a testament to the years they had weathered side by side.
"You're staring," Taehyung said without looking up from his book, a smile tugging at his lips.
Jungkook chuckled, walking over to the couch and sitting beside him. "I can't help it. You're as beautiful now as you were the day I married you."
Taehyung chuckled as he closed his book, resting it on his lap. "You're still as charming as ever. After all these years, you still know how to make me blush."
Jungkook grinned, leaning in to kiss Taehyung's temple. "I'll never stop trying."
They sat in comfortable silence for a while, the rain a steady rhythm in the background. These moments had become more frequent now that Jungkyung is away. It was a different kind of peace, one that allowed them to reflect on everything they had built together.
"I was thinking," Taehyung said softly, leaning back into Jungkook's arms. "Do you miss the busier days? When Jungkyung was here, when the house was full of life?"
Jungkook paused, considering the question. "I miss him, of course. I miss the noise, the laughter. But... I think we're in a different chapter now, and I'm fine with that. We've had so many years of running around, managing the business, raising Jungkyung. Now, it's about us again. And I like this. It feels... right."
Taehyung nodded thoughtfully. "I know what you mean. I didn't think I'd adjust to the quiet so easily, but here we are."
Jungkook's hand gently rubbed Taehyung's shoulder, comforting in its familiarity. "Besides, it's not like Jungkyung's gone forever. He comes home during holidays, and he's building his own life. That's what we raised him to do."
Taehyung smiled softly. "I'm so proud of him. He's got such a bright future ahead of him."
"He's got your artistic talent and my business sense," Jungkook added with a laugh. "He's going to do great things."
Taehyung shifted so that he could look into Jungkook's eyes, his expression soft but serious. "He wouldn't be the man he is today without you, Kook. You've been such an incredible father. The way you've supported him, taught him—he looks up to you so much."
Jungkook's eyes softened. "We've done it together, Tae. You've given him so much love, so much care. You made sure he always felt understood, no matter what. He's lucky to have you."
Taehyung smiled, leaning in to kiss Jungkook softly on the lips. "I guess we're both lucky."

As the evening stretched on, the rain continued to fall outside, the world beyond their cozy living room becoming a blur of water and mist. The fire crackled gently in the hearth, its warmth filling the room. Taehyung and Jungkook had transitioned from sitting on the couch to lying side by side on a large rug by the fire, their hands intertwined as they stared at the dancing flames.
"Do you ever think about how fast time has gone by?" Taehyung asked, his voice low, almost as if he didn't want to break the serene atmosphere.
"All the time," Jungkook replied, his thumb absentmindedly rubbing the back of Taehyung's hand. "It feels like yesterday we were getting forced to married. Like yesterday Jungkyung was a baby, crawling around the house."
Taehyung scoffed and chuckled softly. "And now look at us, we went from can't stand each other to can't live without each other. And Jungkyung, almost a man."
Jungkook sighed, a content smile on his lips. "He'll always be our little boy, no matter how old he gets."
"Do you ever wish things had been different?" Taehyung asked, a hint of vulnerability in his voice.
Jungkook turned his head to look at him, frowning slightly. "Different how?"
"I don't know. Less complicated. Maybe if we hadn't been tied to the business, we could have... I don't know, done more, traveled more."
Jungkook squeezed Taehyung's hand gently. "Tae, we've lived a full life. Sure, it wasn't always easy, but we made it our own. We've traveled, we've seen the world, and most importantly, we've built a family. I wouldn't change a single thing."
Taehyung smiled, his heart warmed by Jungkook's words. "You're right. We've had a good life."
Jungkook leaned in, pressing a kiss to Taehyung's forehead. "A great life. And it's not over yet. We've still got plenty of adventures ahead of us."
Taehyung chuckled, resting his head against Jungkook's chest. "You think we're ready for more adventures at our age?"
"Absolutely," Jungkook replied with a grin. "Maybe not the kind of adventures we had when we were younger, but there's still so much to see and do. And besides, the best adventure has always been just... being with you."
Taehyung felt his heart swell with emotion. After all these years, after everything they had been through together, Jungkook still had a way of making him feel like the most important person in the world. And in many ways, he was. They were each other's world, and that had never changed.
"I love you, Kook," Taehyung whispered, his voice thick with emotion.
"I love you too, Tae," Jungkook replied softly, holding him close. "Always."
They stayed like that for a long time, wrapped up in each other's warmth, their hearts full of gratitude for the life they had built. The rain continued to fall outside, a gentle reminder of the passing of time, but inside, they felt timeless. Their love, their bond—it had weathered the years, growing only stronger with every challenge they had faced.
And as they drifted off to sleep, lying beside the fire, they knew that no matter what the future held, they would face it together, just as they always had.
