Last Night

The sun had begun its slow descent as Jungkook and Taehyung walked along the beach toward the small, cozy bar they had passed by earlier in the week. The air was warm, the sound of the ocean waves crashing gently against the shore creating a peaceful backdrop to the golden hues of the setting sun. It was the last night of their honeymoon, and though they hadn’t explicitly said it, both of them knew they wanted to make it memorable.

The bar was tucked away in a corner of the island, built from weathered wood and lit by soft, amber lanterns that gave it a rustic charm. When they stepped inside, the soft hum of low music welcomed them, blending with the murmur of quiet conversations. There were a few people scattered around the place, enjoying drinks and watching the sunset from the open deck that faced the ocean.

Jungkook led them to a corner table, one that was far enough from the other patrons to give them privacy, but close enough to the deck for a perfect view of the water. As they sat down, Jungkook glanced at Taehyung, who was looking out at the horizon, a thoughtful expression on his face.

“You okay?” Jungkook asked, his voice soft.

Taehyung blinked, his gaze shifting back to Jungkook. He smiled, though there was a hint of something unreadable in his eyes. “Yeah, just thinking.”

“About?” Jungkook prompted, leaning back in his chair, his fingers drumming lightly on the table.

Taehyung sighed, turning his attention back to the ocean. “It’s our last night here. I guess I’m just… reflecting.”

Jungkook nodded, understanding the feeling. The honeymoon had been an unexpected experience, one that had pushed them closer in ways he hadn’t anticipated. The teasing, the playful banter—it had all been part of the plan, but somewhere along the way, things had shifted. The teasing had stopped being just for fun. It had become something more, something Jungkook hadn’t been able to stop thinking about since that night when he realized how much he liked Taehyung.

Now, sitting here on the last night of their honeymoon, Jungkook felt the weight of everything they hadn’t said hanging between them. He wanted to break the silence, to fill it with something real, but he wasn’t sure how to.

Taehyung looked at him then, his eyes soft in the dim light. “This was a good trip,” he said quietly. “Better than I expected.”

Jungkook chuckled. “Didn’t think you’d enjoy being stuck with me for this long?”

Taehyung’s lips curved into a small smile, and he shook his head. “No, it’s not that. It’s just… I didn’t expect it to feel this easy.”

“Easy?” Jungkook raised an eyebrow, intrigued.

Taehyung nodded, his gaze dropping to the table. “Yeah. I thought it would be awkward, but it wasn’t. We fit, somehow.” He glanced up at Jungkook then, his eyes searching. “Do you ever feel that?”

Jungkook swallowed, his heart skipping a beat at the question. There it was—the vulnerability he hadn’t expected, the honesty he had been hoping for. He leaned forward slightly, resting his arms on the table as he held Taehyung’s gaze.

“Yeah, I do,” Jungkook admitted, his voice quiet but steady. “It surprised me too.”

For a moment, they sat in silence, the weight of their shared confession lingering between them. It wasn’t a grand declaration of love, but it didn’t need to be. It was enough for now—enough to know they were both on the same page.

The waitress came by then, breaking the tension as she took their orders. They both opted for something simple—whiskey for Jungkook, wine for Taehyung—and once their drinks arrived, the conversation flowed more easily. They talked about their favorite moments from the trip, the places they had visited, the food they had tried. It was light, easy conversation, but beneath it, there was an undercurrent of something deeper.

As the night wore on, the bar began to fill with more people, the music growing louder as the energy shifted from a quiet evening to something more lively. Jungkook watched as a small group of people headed toward the deck, laughing and dancing under the string lights that had been strung up above.

Jungkook grinned, his eyes flashing mischievously as he looked at Taehyung. “Wanna dance?”

Taehyung blinked, clearly caught off guard. “Here? Now?”

“Why not?” Jungkook stood up, holding out his hand. “Come on, it’s our last night. Let’s make the most of it.”

Taehyung hesitated for a moment, but the playful challenge in Jungkook’s eyes was too hard to resist. With a sigh and a small smile, he took Jungkook’s hand and let him pull him toward the open deck.

The music wasn’t particularly suited for slow dancing—it was more upbeat, with a lively rhythm that had the other patrons moving with carefree energy. But that didn’t stop Jungkook from pulling Taehyung close, his hands settling on his waist as they swayed to the beat.

“You’re terrible at this,” Taehyung teased, though there was no malice in his voice.

Jungkook chuckled, leaning in slightly. “I know. But you’re still dancing with me.”

Taehyung rolled his eyes, but he didn’t pull away. Instead, he let Jungkook lead, his body moving in sync with Jungkook’s, the music fading into the background as they focused on each other.

For a while, they danced in comfortable silence, the world around them blurring as they got lost in their own little bubble. Jungkook couldn’t stop himself from stealing glances at Taehyung, admiring the way the lights played across his features, the way his eyes sparkled in the dim glow of the lanterns.

As the song came to an end, Taehyung let out a soft laugh, his cheeks flushed from the movement. “Okay, I admit, that was fun.”

Jungkook smirked, tightening his grip on Taehyung’s waist. “Told you.”

They lingered for a moment longer, their bodies still pressed close, and for the first time all night, the teasing disappeared. Jungkook’s gaze softened as he looked down at Taehyung, and without thinking, he leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to the corner of his lips.

Taehyung blinked, caught off guard by the gesture, but he didn’t pull away. Instead, his lips curved into a small smile, his eyes flickering up to meet Jungkook’s.

“Was that part of your plan too?” Taehyung asked, his voice soft but teasing.

Jungkook shrugged, grinning. “Maybe. You’ll never know.”

As they walked back to their table, hand in hand, the air between them felt lighter, freer. The teasing was still there, but now it was layered with something deeper, something more real.

By the time they finished their drinks and headed back to the villa, the night had settled into a comfortable quiet. They didn’t say much on the way back, but the silence wasn’t awkward. It was the kind of silence that spoke of understanding, of a connection that didn’t need words.

When they arrived at the villa, Jungkook glanced over at Taehyung, a soft smile tugging at his lips. “Ready for our last night here?”

Taehyung nodded, his own smile matching Jungkook’s. “Yeah. Let’s make it count.”

And as they stepped inside, the door closing behind them, Jungkook couldn’t help but feel like this was just the beginning of something new.
