4. Start of Something Good

Chapter 4: Start of Something Good- Daughtry

~•^*^•~Elaine's POV~•^*^•~

I see my brother and Aleks talking to each other on the couch. Eddie and I had gotten tired of running around so we kind of crashed on the floor by the TV. James left the room to go into the kitchen. Soon he comes out holding the cake with candles lit. We all sing Happy Birthday to Seamus and he blows out his candles. But instead of saying Seamus, we say Seamoose just for shits and giggles. Ash sneaks up from behind him and shoves a handful of whipped cream in his face as soon as he blows at the princess peach candle on his Mario themes cake.

"Fuck you Ash, Fuck you." She laughs and gives him a hug. He tried to give her a kiss with his whipped cream filled face but she runs away. I take the initiative to cut the cake and give everyone a piece. Aleks comes up from behind me and grabs a piece scaring me a little.

"Oh hey." He smiles at me and takes a fork for his cake. I smile at him and go back to focusing on cutting the cake.

"What do you weirdo?" He chuckles and takes a bite.

"Open up." I look up and open my mouth and he has a bit of cake on the fork and holding it out in from of him. I lean towards it but he twirls it around and tries to keep it away from my mouth. Finally he allows me to take a bit and eat the piece.

"Mm this is really good." I saw with my mouth partly full. He just laughs and shrugs. I turn to the other side of me to lay out plates and put the cake on it. All of them were gone in seconds leaving me to cut the last piece for myself. Aleks left to go talk to Eddie on the couch. I looked around to see that all the seats were taken, so I walk out of the living room and to the staircase. Taking a seat, horizontally on the third step I eat my cake in silence while everybody laughs in the other room. I couldn't really help but feel awkward sometimes. I'm literally 15 and I'm hanging around a bunch of 18-25 year olds. I hear rustling around close by to me and look towards the room to see someone standing in front of me.

"Hey Ash."

"Hey girlie. Why are you out here all alone?" She sits down on the step below mine.

"Eh, I don't know. There's no room. I feel kind of awkward anyway." She nods and smiles.

"Well we don't think it's awkward. And uh, how are you and Bryan." I shrug keeping it short. I don't want to talk about him right now.

"Good."

"Good. So Aleks and you seem close." I grin at the thought of Aleks.

"Yeah. I actually met him today in GameStop. He gave me a ride home." She laughs.

"That's awesome. Ok I know I helped you out with Bryan but can I help you out with Aleks now." She giggles which causes me to laugh.

"Ash! You can't just go around doing people favors when they already have a boyfriend."

"A jerk of a boyfriend."

"Hey like you said you helped me out with him!" I joked. She rolls her eyes jokingly and smiles.

"Ok well when you change your mind I got you. You never know, it could be the start of something good." She gives me a little fist pump and leaves me to finish my cake. I smile and get up and go into the the living room where everyone was sitting around talking and grab my camera on the side table trying to quickly retreat back to my room. Before I could make it out the room, my wrist was grabbed and I turned around to see Steven smiling at me and pulling me back towards the couch. He sits down and pats his lap. I sit down on it and lay my head on his shoulder. The clock on the cable box read 11:56. Damn almost midnight. Steven starts to get up and whispers to me that he has to use the bathroom. I get off of him and sit down on the couch where Aleks was sitting next to me. I yawn and start to shut my eyes. He chuckles and pulls me into his lap where I lay against him and let myself fall asleep.

~•^*^•~ Aleks POV ~•^*^•~

I wrap my arms around Elaine and rock her to sleep. She lays on my lap and snores quietly while everyone converses. Steven comes back from the bathroom and laughs quietly when he sees her passed out.

"Do you want me to take her." He asks.

"No I can get her. Just tell me where her room is." I put my hands on her thighs right below her butt and lift her. Her legs automatically wrap around my waist and her hands hold onto my neck as I lift her and carry her to her room.

"It's the third door on the left." I nod and silently take Elaine to her room. I open the door and see a perfectly straight room with photos hanging around on a string. Posters hang on her simple yellow walls. I take her to her bed and lay her down under the covers. She snuggles into her bed and I watch her comfortably sleep. I look at her side table and see a picture of her with a boy, smiling at him as he looks down at her smiling too. There's her boyfriend. I look down at her. She looks so happy and I know we are going to be great friends. I lean down and kiss her forehead.

"Good night little one." I whisper before returning to the party. I say goodbye to everyone and grab my shoes, jacket and keys before going to my car and driving back to my apartment. I quickly get back into my bed after changing out of my clothes and into only a pair of sweatpants and soon fall asleep.

*Dream*

I was walking down a street during the night and it started to rain. All of a sudden lightning flashes and two figures pop up in the distance. I started to walk towards the two people. Every time lightning flashes the the figures would appear closer. At some point the closer figure trips over a rock and the figure other figure caught up. It starts to drag the other figure who I note to be a girl and the girl screams out for help. She kicks the other figure and who rips off his hood revealing a face that I didn't want to see.

"Bryan." I whisper to myself. I run towards him and see that it was Elaine he was dragging.

"Come in babe just let me have you." He reaches for her but I act quickly, tackling him to the ground. Bryan and I rolled into a dark alley way and I threw punches at him until I knocked him out. I get off of him and walk out. Elaine looked at me full of fear. My black hoodie covering my face and the sleeves pushed up to right below my elbows showing my tattoo on my right arm. I approach her quickly but stop when I see her back up to the wall. She stops when she hits the brick wall.

"Who are you?" I didn't respond to her for I was too in awe of how beautiful she was

"I said who are you?" She demands spitting out her words. He take off my hood to show my face to her.

"Aleks?" She smiles and runs into my arms. It just felt so... right. Perfect in every way. She smiles as I kiss the top of her head. I then take my hand and place it under her chin and move her head up gently so she can look at me.

"I promise to protect you Elaine. Forever." I whisper.

"I love you, Aleks." I hear her say faintly as she hugs me tightly.

"I love you too."
