Chapter 5: Let It Go- James Bay

3 Years Later

~•^*^•~Aleks POV~•^*^•~

"Oh my god Aleks I swear to god! Fuck you!" Elaine shouts as I smash into her character in GTA V. I laugh as my car runs through her and it shows the death screen split side of her screen. Typical Friday nights were like this in the filled apartment that contained 5 losers. Jake, also known Jakeybabs to some, was out sucking up to our other roommate and Elaine's best friend, Whitney who was probably picking up some sort of dinner for us as Eddie was in his room recording and editing Homies Power Level Friday. This all left Elaine and I to do whatever we so pleased all afternoon. Most of the time we just ended up playing video games or watching a movie until the food arrived. Turning my head towards Elaine, I hear her mumble how much of an asshole I am under her breath.

"Oh is that so?" I question her. Her eyes widen and she tries to get up from the couch but I swoop over, pin her down, and start to tickle her. She bursts into a fit of giggles as I gave no mercy to her as I tickle her.

"Aleks stop!!" She cries out while still laughing. She squirms around and shifts just enough so that she falls off the couch.

"Ow!" She exclaims. I look down over the side of the couch and examine her as she lays on the ground pouting with crossed arms. I couldn't help but think she was beautiful even though she was laying on the ground in leggings and an oversized T-shirt that I couldn't help wish was mine but in reality belonged to someone else. Unfortunately Bryan was still in the picture for Elaine. I've met him many times ever since Elaine and I met 3 years ago at Seamus's party.

This man is so unbearably annoying and acts like a total douchebag. First night I met him, he asked what grade I was in High School even though Elaine told him that I was her "college dropout friend" which she had meant as a joke. Then to top off the night he practically called her a whore and then dragged her into the other room where they fought for the rest of the night. That was the night I first became suspicious of him. Every night she went out something was on her. Bruises on her arms from being gripped so tight or red marks on her perfectly defined cheekbones or a minor cut on her lip with poorly hidden dry blood surrounding the cut.

I wanted to confront her but I couldn't bring myself to do such a thing and see the most beautiful girl in the world break down in front of my very eyes. When I first met Elaine, I had seen a brilliant girl that was so carefree and down to earth. Now all that's left is a broken girl with a lot of problems giving out a fake smile on the daily in order to protect herself from pain.

I guess this leads to me now. Well I'm not with anyone at all. I had a girlfriend a while back perhaps about a year ago but a lot of things went wrong in that relationship. Stephanie was her name and she ended up hooking up with some guy at a concert that I wasn't even aware about. She told me she was drunk and it was an accident, and she practically begged for my forgiveness, which I did give her only because I myself needed someone to make life a little easier. That was only because Elaine was mad at me for a while and went on a vacation with friends to kind of get away from me. After that, it apparantly ended up not being an accident and it lead to her cheating on me once again. I left her obviously and never spoke to her again. By that point I honestly hadn't cared because I didn't need her to make my life miserable.

I help Elaine back up onto the couch and onto my lap. I wrap my arms around her sides but she pushes me away before I had the chance to lock my arms. She glares at me then slides of my lap.

"Thanks a lot. This is your fault you dick." She crosses her arms again and puffs a short breath out making sure to look away from me. I run my hand through my hair before talking to her in a gentle tone.
