Chapter 26: Breathe- Taylor Swift

~•^*^•~Aleks' POV~•^*^•~

What the hell did I just do!?! I just fucked up my life and basically had the love of my life leave me because of a stupid comment I didn't even mean. I cursed loudly and kicked the suitcase in front of me so it wobbled and then fell over, then rocking side to side until it couldn't rock anymore. That's when I threw my phone onto the bed and collapsed right next to it.

"Hey are you alright?" I heard a voice say from the door that I automatically recognized.

"Not now James." He walked into the room and I look at him with blank eyes.

"I'm sorry. I just wanted to make sure you are ok. I mean I heard everything and it didn't even sound good." I sigh and sit up as he sits next to me.

"Yeah. I got angry and said things I didn't mean and now she's gone. She left everything here too. Phone, wallet, keys." He nods silently and we both sit in silence for a moment before he speaks again.

"I think you two may need time to calm down. Do you want me to look for her?" He stands up slowly waiting for my response. I shake my head but then change it to a nod. As much as she didn't want to see me, I had to make sure she was ok. I love her too much. He grabs her things that was scattered along the top of the dresser.

"James, promise me you'll find her and that you'll tell her I love her. I didn't mean what I said."

"I promise I'll find her. I promise everything will be ok." He leaves the room and soon I'm surrounded by loneliness again. Ella trots into the room, jumps up onto the the bed and curls up next to me.

"Hey girl. I'm sorry. Everything's going to be ok. Everything's going to be just fine." I talk to her and hold her as if she could actually understand me.

"I can't believe I'm actually talking to a dog!" I sigh and cuddle up with her before laying back down disturbed by my thoughts.

"I'm sorry. So so sorry."

~•^*^•~James' POV~•^*^•~

I hop into my car and drive off to look for her. She couldn't have gotten that far could she? I keep cruising around the neighborhood and soon arrive at a small strip mall. She could've gone into here. I pull into the parking lot and slowly drive around until I came along a frame of a small girl curled up on a bench crying. I pull up closer and see that it is Elaine. I put my car in park and run out to her. Her head snaps up with fear spread in her eyes. She sighs in relief before sniffling.

"Hey there. Come to take me back to the war zone?" She says looking up at me with wide yet pained blue eyes. I chuckle slightly and sit down next her observing her body language.

"You know Aleks is worried about you." I say.

"Well, he shouldn't because he doesn't even want to go to North Carolina anyways so why should he even care in the first place?" She huffs out.

"He was willing to do all of it for you. He would do anything for you if it ensured your happiness, Elaine. He didn't mean what he said at all.  He loves you. That to you I can promise."

"I know but I can't just go back and forgive him. It's not that easy. At least not after what he said. Even though you say he didn't mean it, it still hurt my entire body and shattered my heart. I feel like I just lost my best friend.  Maybe it's for the best if we go our separate ways for now." I nod slowly and we both gaze out into the parking lot sitting in comfortable yet painful silence.
