Hello Lovelies!
I know it has been a very, very long time since I have made any updates to this story and really, I cannot think of any way to properly apologize. So many things happened over the course of last year that drained my creative soul down to it's last drops, only for those morsels to be stamped out by even more life-altering events that I had very little control over. Small fonts of inspiration would come to me and result in my staring at a blank word document full of words that felt flat and forced, and nothing like the blood and tears I put into the previous 40 installments.
I had even tried working on other projects, all of which I ended up shelving, because I hated that TDVIT was stalled out.
"What happened to Unforgiven!?" (posted on AO3) - It was too much for me to commit to right now, so once TDVIT is nearing it's end, I will consider starting it up again.
"So then what happened to Maledicto et Requiem!? I want Dramoine!" (posted on AO3) - This one traumatized me, and I loved it. I will get back to it once I have nothing but 100% of my soul to pour into it. It was too dark and wonderful to just slap it together so fast during that writing challenge, and it deserves more love than I can spread around at the moment.
Something has changed in me, and I think I am one step closer to accepting that and moving on, even if it means that perhaps the ending of TDVIT I had originally set my heart on isn't going to be the one that will get sent out into the world. Or perhaps it will. Perhaps those of you who are still here who have been waiting and hoping for that notification to pop up can help.
I have two chapters written, awaiting final editing, and for the life of me I cannot set my heart on one. They will take our journey in two vastly different directions, so here I am, asking you, the adventurer, which way you would like to go.
Pathway #1: Let's Do The Time Warp Again
It's been a tumultuous first 30 days of the new school year at Hogwarts. Quidditch is back, there's to be a Triwizard Tournament (and subsequently, of course, a ball that I have been DYING to get to because it has been burning a hole in my heart for months), and all hell has broken loose. Dragons, hexed brooms, Ominis in a magical coma on the brink of death, and our FMC and Sebastian dipped their toes into time travel using the ancient magic time turner, causing more ripples in the present than they've even come to realize yet are their fault - mostly because Y/N has been fully submerged into the realm of the nafsi tupu where she is reliving the adolescent years of Alvira Gaunt.
For once, Sebastian is at a loss at what to do now without allies now that his friends have distanced themselves and he's lost the trust of Professor Sharp. That is until Jecht, leader of the Red Devil Phantom Army appears and offers Sebastian a solution: the means to rewrite the past few weeks, to travel back to London on September 1st knowing what he does now about what's to come when they return to Hogwarts. Jecht asks for only one thing in return...
(This choice would bring us back to the chapter "Phantom Train". It will not change anything that is happening to Anne, but will alter everything that happened to our trio between now and "Phantom Train", and Sebastian gets a shiny new - dangerous - tool in his arsenal... at price of course)
Pathway #2: Alvira Gaunt, Queen of Snakes >> Y/N, Heir to The Throne
After accepting the deal to allow the nafsi tupu to linger within her for as long as possible, she is reliving Alvira's life at Hogwarts. Currently, she is trapped in the events where Alvira acquires the recipe for the "Nectar of The Gods" from Nicolas Flamel, the magic amplifying potion which dates back to Ancient Egypt, requiring a blood sacrifice as it's base.
Meanwhile outside of her trance, Garreth is watching over her as she crafts the potion in her bewitched state, completely unaware of what will happen if he continues to do so. Y/N has mistakenly guided him into the Undercroft, where he's discovering the secret life she led with her two Slytherin boys - only now, it's more Sebastian's residence than anything, and so when he comes along to continue his study of the Gaunt manuscripts, it's no surprise that Sebastian's response to Garreth being here with Y/N is rage.
It isn't until Sebastian takes a moment to realize what is going on that he begins to understand that Y/N is trapped in Alvira's curse for the time being, and the first steps they can now take to waking her up is to help her finish the potion that could save Ominis' life.
(This choice directly continues where we left off, and will result in more twisty paths as we get the first solid view of what Alvira's prophecy was and why Y/N was chosen to receive her legacy, the first trial of the tournament, and the "reborn" Ominis Gaunt).
Leave your comments and let me know which way you would like us to go! I will post the new chapter on June 13th (Friday the 13th, my favorite day) based on everyone's responses.
Thank you for your continued support, and of course, as always, thank you for continuing on our journey.
Love,
Ruby
