This champagne fairy took me to her room and I don't know why I followed her or why I trusted her.

I didn't know her at all, didn't even know her name, but she was yapping and singing the entire way to the hotel, it kinda made me forget about my shit car for a moment.

She had a huge room, or should I say suite, probably even bigger than mine.

"Are you famous or something?" I asked. I didn't recognize her, but it's not as if I knew every celebrity.

A celebrity wouldn't steal champagne bottles from the paddock though.

She snorted. "Not at all"

She gestured to follow her to the huge balcony attached to her room. A suite with the best view.

Who the fuck was she?

"I would ask you to do your famous champagne pop, but I don't wanna waste this stuff" she chuckled, handing me one of the bottles.

"Yeah, if I'm gonna do one of those ever again" I shrugged, opening the bottle in a less enthusiastic way.

"Of course you will" she said, doing the same and putting her lips against the bottle of champagne.

"If you say so" I took a sip from the champagne, been a long time since I tasted it. "It's a big carrot right now"

She chuckled. "Carrots are tasty though, you shouldn't give up"

I leaned against the railing of her balcony, turning my body to her.

She was looking at me with a smile on her face, it was already pretty dark outside, but even now, I could see how beautiful she was.

"Who are you?" I asked. I swear I saw her before, but not that many times or maybe I was too busy being grumpy.

"Alix" she said before taking another sip.

I never heard of her before, maybe she was just a daughter of someone rich?
But why would she steal champagne if she could easily buy them?

"And what do you do, besides stealing champagne?"

"Cheering up grumpy carrot drivers, so it seems" she laughed, pushed me a little before walking back inside her room.

And I followed her inside, like a lost puppy.

"I am not grumpy" I lied, I definitely was.

"Don't be offended, you piss off the journalists and the FIA, especially them" she looked at me. "I like that"

I wasn't even aware that I was pissing off the FIA, but I shouldn't be surprised about that.
I was swearing on the radio, refusing to give long answers in press conferences.

Obviously I was pissing them off.

But how did she know?

"Are you a journalist or something?"

"Yes, I am wearing a wire to record everything you say" she rolled her eyes.

"Are you?"

"No obviously not, Lando" she took another sip, walking to the door and opening it. "Anyways, I have dinner with my dad, so..."

"Are you kicking me out?"

She nodded as if it was no big deal. "Yes obviously, you can keep the champagne though"

And moments later, I was walking back to my room with the bottle of champagne.

What did just happen?

And why do I wanna see her again? Why am I excited to go to the paddock tomorrow for once?

———————————

I woke up extra early the next day, ready to go to the paddock early.

I looked around as I was walking through the paddock, but there was no sign of her.

"Morning mate, you're early" Max Verstappen said as he walked next to me.

"Yeah I couldn't sleep" I shrugged. Not a complete lie though.

"What did you do last night? I stopped by your room but you weren't there" he asked.

"I hung out with this girl" I shrugged.

"Oh? What girl?" He nudged me playfully.

And right in that moment, Alix walked in the paddock, dancing along to some music and...

Eating a fucking carrot.

She looked at me, took a bite from it and winked at me before walking away.

"Alix?" Max asked, looking at her as well. "Was it her?"

"Yeah.." I nodded.

"Oh mate you don't wanna go there" he chuckled.

"Why not?"

"Just don't" he patted my back, even laughing a little. "Definitely don't"
