Max didn't want to explain why I shouldn't bother with Alix. He said I would figure it out by myself soon enough.I hated that, because what if I didn't figure it out by myself? Or too late?
Once again, the last practice was absolutely horrible. We had no pace whatsoever, and for everyone who thought we were faking it, we definitely weren't.
Qualifying was gonna be horrible, absolutely horrible.
"Qualifying will be better" Zak lied. He knew it wasn't gonna get better. It was only getting worse.
I ignored him, rolled my eyes at him.
I would not get through to Q2 and we would make a fool out of ourselves, yet again.
The only good thing was that Alix was standing in the paddock, in front of the Mercedes hospitality.
So instead of going to my hospitality, I walked up to her.
"Did you enjoy your carrot?" I asked. She looked at me, nodded slightly. "Did you enjoy your carrot?"
"I wasn't eating any carro-" I stopped and she was already smiling. "No I didn't enjoy my carrot car, okay?"
"Why not?" She tilted her head.
Why not? Did she even watch the practices?
"Because my carrot is slow as fuck"
"Yeah well, because you hate the carrot, you have to love it and work on it" she said, still with that smile on her face.
"Anyways enough carrot talk" I said. "Do you work here?"
"Hm, not really, no"
But she was wearing an all access pass, so she must be important, or she must know someone important.
"Are you Christian's Horner daughter or something?"
She chuckled. "Thank God, no"
Not gonna lie, that was a bit of a relief.
"Then what do you do here?"
"What's up with all the questions? Can't a girl enjoy some fast cars?" She shrugged. "Or not so fast cars in your case"
"Ha, very funny" I rolled my eyes, which made her laugh. She had a cute laugh.
And when I wanted to ask her if she was busy tonight, her friend interrupted us. Her friend, who was also wearing an all access pass.
She definitely didn't work here, but she also wasn't Christian's daughter. Maybe she was related to Toto then?
But how did Max know her?
"Anyways carrot man, good luck in qualifying" she smiled. "I will be watching you"
I snorted. "Only in Q1 then"
She didn't say anything to that, she just shrugged. "Just don't swear too much on the radio"
———————————-
"Is this idiot blind or something?" I pressed my radio button. "Who the fuck is that?"
"That's an Haas in front of you" Will, my racing engineer answered. "And Lando? Calm down please"
I pressed my radio button again "He is blocking me and ruining my fucking lap"
"Noted"
I drove back to the garage, our first lap was ruined by a fucking Haas, who was still faster than us, so we only had one lap to do it right.
Zak walked up to my car, leaned down to look at me while I was adjusting something on my steering wheel.
"Lando dude, stop with the swearing and calling people idiots"
I pushed my visor up. "Then don't put me in all that traffic"
"Sometimes, we have no choice, there will always be cars on track" he said it calmly but I could see I was pushing it here.
"Yeah well, I wish I had the choice not to drive this fucking carrot tractor" I said a bit too loud.
I bet the entire garage could hear it. All the mechanics that worked on this car, they heard it too.
"I want to see you in my office after qualifying" Zak said, almost yelled before returning to the pitwall.
I sighed as I put my visor back down.
I was so angry lately, literally all the time but it was just so frustrating. Everything was falling apart.
