My dad always thought I would be like him, that I would want to do a job in F1.

And he was right.

Just a different job than he wanted me to do. I didn't want to be part of the FIA.

Quite the opposite actually.

Ava didn't come to this race with me, unfortunately she had to work. So I knew it was gonna be a boring weekend.

Everyone pretty much ignored me here, everyone I liked though.

Usually Max would give me a quick nod and walk passed me, but instead of walking away, he was actually walking up to me.

"Morning Alix" he smiled. "I heard the news, congratulations"

"Wait, who told you?"

No one was supposed to know yet, because if he knew, then my dad would hear about it soon too.

"Christian told me" he shrugged. "Don't worry, I don't think he told anyone else though"

"Hopefully" I mumbled.

"I am looking forward to it though" he said before walking away.

I bet he was lying though. He for sure was lying.

I got up, walked to no where in particular. Just walked through the paddock, trying to keep myself busy.

"Fairy princess" Lando said cheerfully. "Little carrot, you seem happy today"

"I am always happy when I see you" he kept walking next to me and I kept looking around. If people saw us together then they would think he was using me or something.

We didn't really talk after he texted me when I was in London.

He texted that he was crazy about me, but that was just a joke, right? Surely he was just drunk.
He didn't answer that question though, just stopped texting.

But here he was, smiling and happy again, as if nothing happened.

"I really have to go to the garage, but will I see you tonight?" He asked, put his hand on my back as he leaned closer.

I took a step to the side. "I will text you"

"Okay great!" He smiled, let his hand brush against my arm. "You look beautiful by the way"

"Th-thanks" I stuttered. Didn't expect him to say that.

And my stomach did that funny thing again.

Hungry again I guess.

——————————-

I ate while I watched the practices. Lando's car seemed a bit better, but not by much.

They were still struggling but he didn't moan or curse on the radio.
He was making progress.

I also noticed he spend a lot more time with his mechanics, trying to help them improve the car.

I really liked that.

"Alix, my office, now" my dad crossed his arms in front of him.

"Dad, I was just gonna go back to the hotel though"

"I said, my office, now!" He raised his voice. I hated when he did that, but I still followed him to his office.

It was easier to just do what he wanted instead of making a scene in the paddock. Definitely didn't want that.

"So tell me it's just a ridiculous rumor" he said after we entered his office. Obviously Christian didn't only tell Max.

"It isn't" I said calmly.

"Are you out of your mind? You can't do that!"

I sighed. "I can and I did"

"What do you think people will say?" He raised his voice again. Did he think it would actually scare me?

It didn't.

"Don't know and honestly I don't care either" I already walked to the door, I was done with this shit. "Good night dad"

He didn't say it back, didn't say anything else.

I didn't hate him, but I definitely hated the pressure he put on me. The pressure to do a job I just didn't want to do.

I thought he would be proud.

He was never gonna be proud of me. Everything I did, would always disappoint him.
