"Who do you think you are?" Zak yelled as we were both standing in his made up office in the hospitality. "You have to be grateful that we want you to drive for this team!""Grateful? A fucking bunny might be grateful to sit in that car" I tried to match his voice, but his voice was louder than anything else.
He put his hands on the table, trying to be extra loud as if that was necessary. "What's your problem? We know that the car isn't the fastest right no-"
"Not the fastest? No it's the slowest" I interrupted him.
"And we are tryin-" Zak raised his voice again, until he got interrupted by a knock on the door. "Yeah?" He sighed.
"I am sorry to interrupt your conversation, but the stewards want to see Lando" Josie, my PR manager said.
"Saved by the stewards" I chuckled, already walking to the door.
"I expect to see you in my office again Lando" Zak yelled after me, but I decided to ignore it, act as if I didn't hear him.
When in fact, everyone in this hospitality heard him.
I walked with Josie to the stewards in complete silence. I knew she was tired of me as well, but she already knew that it wouldn't help to make a comment about it.
"I told you not to swear on the radio" someone chuckled, someone who's voice I already recognized.
Alix was sitting outside on one of the tables, working or watching something on her laptop.
"Give me a minute" I told Josie, as I was already walking to Alix.
"Lando we don't have-" Josie stopped. "Whatever"
I leaned down at Alix's table. "How do you know that's the reason why I have to go visit the stewards?"
"Call me a psychic" She closed her laptop a little as she looked up. "And besides that, it's also pretty obvious"
I titled my head a little. I didn't even realize I was that harsh. "I wasn't that bad? Right?"
She laughed. "I think you used the word 'fuck' three times in two sentences."
I shrugged.
"Lando" she closed her laptop, leaned closer to me. "I bet girls would love to hear you moan that word in their ears during incredibly good sex, but don't use it on the radio"
She got up, grabbed her laptop and looked at me as I was completely silenced.
"Now go" she nodded at my PR manager. "Don't keep them waiting"
"Wait-" I quickly said. "Are you free tonight?"
"I am. You know my room number" she nodded. "But don't come empty handed"
"What should I bring then?"
"Surprise me, carrot boy" she chuckled and walked away.
I don't know who she was, but she was definitely my type.
"Who's that?" Josie asked as I walked back to her. "I actually have no idea" I answered.
Which was the honest truth. I knew her name, and that she had the best banter, didn't seem impressed with who I was.
And silenced me one too many times already.
"Let's go meet these stewards, yeah?" I looked at her and she nodded. "Please behave yourself, we don't want a fine"
"I will be on my best behavior"
"That's exactly what I was afraid for" she sighed before we walked in the steward's office.
