"He's such an asshole" Ava pretty much yelled as we were walking through the paddock. "Why did I even come here?"

Yeah, the race weekend in Brazil didn't start too great. Kai broke up with Ava after he saw her, once again, flirting with Ryle.

He was fed up and I completely understood. I wouldn't trust her either if I was in his place.

"Um, for me?" I shrugged.

"Yeah of course" she smiled at me. "I am sorry, I just don't wanna see Kai, can't you just fire him?"

"No Ava, he's great at his job, I'm not gonna fire him"

Especially not because he did nothing wrong.

"So you actually pick him over me? I am your best friend!" She stopped in front of the Red Bull hospitality.

"And he's my friend too" I pointed out. "I am not gonna choose"

"Unbe-fucking-lievable" she scoffed, walked in the hospitality as she was shaking her head.

"Trouble in paradise?" Lando walked up to me, put his hand on my back and kissed my cheek.

I could smell his cologne and every time I smelled it, it reminded me of the times we spend cuddling.

Or having sex.

"Kai broke up with Ava" I shrugged. "Where's your girlfriend?"

"I said I don't have a girlfriend"

I rolled my eyes. "That blonde girl who's always around you"

"Aw you did your research, cute" he chuckled. "But she's not here"

"You said she was coming though?"

"Never said that" he shook his head.

But he did though. I frowned, completely lost.

He took a step closer, let his fingers brush against my arm, down to my fingers.

"The girl I obviously like is y-"

"Surprise!" Someone said from behind me.

Kill me now.

I turned around, saw James' face in front of me and only a moment later, he pressed his lips against mine.

Lando immediately took a step back.

"Um, hi" I stuttered. "I thought you weren't coming?"

"I wanted to surprise you" he said, put his arm around my shoulders.

"Yeah you definitely surprised me" I mumbled, turned to Lando, who was still standing next to us. "This is Lando by the way"

"Yeah hi mate" James offered his hand to Lando. "Heard a lot about you"

"Wish I could say the same" Lando shook James' hand and James was too stupid to realize Lando just dissed him by telling him I never talk about him.

Which, I now realized, was true.

"Anyways.." Lando cleared his throat and looked at me. "I should go, I will see you on track"

"Yes you definitely will" I nodded with a smile and watched him walk away.

"Seems like a good lad" James said, nodded his chin to Lando. "Yeah, he definitely is" I agreed.

"Alix, we need to go to the media pen" Carley walked up to me, but was mostly looking at her phone. "We also have an event tonigh-"

She looked up from her phone, looked at James and his arm around me. "Who's this?"

"I am her boyfriend" he once again offered his hand, which Carley quickly shook. "Right" she muttered as she looked at him.

"I should go" I looked at James, took a step back. "Yeah I'll go to Ryle" he nodded, quickly grabbed me and kissed me again.

"I thought you had a thing with Lando?" Carley whispered as we walked away.

"We maybe had a thing yeah" I shrugged. "Past tense"

But was it really past tense? I looked at the Mclaren hospitality, Lando was standing in front of it, talking to his trainer.

He looked up, our eyes met and he gave me a little smile.

My heart didn't skip a beat when James kissed me, not when he touched me, not when we have sex.

But it sure missed a couple of beats when Lando looked at me.

It for sure did.
